Gotcha politics aren't going to work this time. People are worried,
and rightly so, about the economy. The time for giving a damn about remarks like "lipstick on a pig" and "I'm cute" is over. The middle-class and poor in this country are hurting because of Republican deregulation of the markets.

They broke it. We'll fix it. That's what we need to keep hammering away on from now until Nov. 4. Every time some talking-head wants to distract from that discussion, the comeback should be, "Why are you talking about petty stuff that doesn't do anything to solve the problems? Let's talk about this failing economy and how we're gonna fix it?"

1. exactly right
I wouldn't be surprised if Obama and Biden don't say exactly what you said, when asked about the latest attacks.

2. Thank you!
Totally agree. I think the Republicans will look increasingly transparent in their efforts to distract the voters from what's really going on, because the big issues have effectively smashed the distracting crap to smithereens. Hope so, anyway!

6. I like that McLame had his speech early so Obama and Biden can come back at him
I have been enjoying the back and forth speeches, actually. I love to watch Obama take McLame's words and throw it back at him. He is a tougher guy then many realize, that Barack.

7. What's really sad about the latest shift so ....
Edited on Fri Sep-19-08 09:04 AM by hadrons
the economic crisis had to be so in their faces to wake them up. It seemed like people would know its a bad thing to fall off a 100 story building long before they reached the edge, but nowadays he seems like its not until they've dropped 50 stories that the 'so-far-so-good' mentality wears off.

It seems like there's a large number of people who frankly wanted to be distracted and knowing full well the course that the country was heading, but as long as it wasn't seen they were OK with it.

Sorry for this doesn't make sense

8. Sure it makes sense. Excellent analogy.
Out of sight. Out of mind. Not until they hit pavement did they realize that jumping was stupid.
