Here is the thread I posted about it earlier:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7106333&mesg_id=7106333)
I was specifically complaining about this sentence:
(Ed. Note: Barack Obama Sr. had the second wife in Kenya, about whom he neglected to tell Barack Obama Jr.'s mother before her own hasty teen-aged marriage. It's just something about which those misogynistic Obama supporters who made it a point to attack Sarah Palin about her daughter's problem should be aware.)
The editor got defensive, of course. First, he asked me if I was the wife of the man that wrote the letter he commented on.
I'm not, so we moved on from that. He told me that Editorials are opinions and are not regulated or endorsed by paper, so he is allowed to say what he wants about the candidates. I told him I could care less what he says, as long as he was using the facts & not creating conflict where there did not need to be any. I think it was irresponsible for him to bring Barack Obama's father in to this. Barack's father has no bearing on this election.
The editor said, "You don't have any problem with the fact that Barack Hussein Obama was married before, I understand that".
Let's go back and look at that last sentence. He MADE SURE to use the Hussein. It pissed me off.
I told him I thought his response was poorly written and off topic. What Barack's father did has NOTHING to do with Barack. In totality, Barack probably knew his father for less than a year. Comparing Barack's father to Bristol Palin's teenage pregnancy is RIDICULOUS at best. I told him that Bristol Palin's mother is an elected official who DOES NOT BELIEVE in sex education & believes in Abstinence Only teachings. I said, "clearly that did not work in her own family, so people are entitled to comment & expect her to admit that Abstinence only CLEARLY DOES NOT WORK".
He couldn't respond to that.
He tried to tell me he is entitled to his opinion, and I agreed that he is... I said that I just find it shameful that a "news" publication is willing to put lies and propaganda in their paper. In the end we agreed to disagree & I informed him that I would no longer be buying the paper.
They really don't care- it is a tiny local rag run by Republican hacks.
I won't be reading that shit again.
