The "email hack" is a classic Rovian diversion trick. DON'T FALL FOR IT! Remember these ones?

In 1986, Karl Rove bugged his own candidate's office

From WIKI:

"1986 William Clements, Jr. gubernatorial campaign
In 1986, Rove helped Clements become governor a second time. In a strategy memo Rove wrote for his client prior to the race, now among Clements's papers in the Texas A&M University library, Rove quoted Napoleon: "The whole art of war consists in a well-reasoned and extremely circumspect defensive, followed by rapid and audacious attack."

In 1986, just before a crucial debate in campaign, Rove claimed that his office had been bugged by Democrats. The police and FBI investigated and discovered that the bug's battery was so small that it needed to be changed every few hours, and the investigation was dropped. Critics, including other Republican operatives, suspected Rove had bugged his own office to garner sympathy votes in the close governor's race."

In 2000, Karl Rove was suspected of having a videotape of George Bush's debate practice sent to Gore's offices

A Cheney low-level aide ultimately took the fall:

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,998233,00.html?promoid=googlep

In 2004, Karl Rove was suspected of setting up the whole fake TANG documents, otherwise known as "Rather-gate"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rathergate

This whole thing is a DIVERSIONARY tactic to get the media to quit talking about the Wall Street meltdown.

If you fall for this, pardon my french, you're a fucking idiot.

Anybody starting threads that say "Hacking Palin's email is wrong" is either stupid or a troll.

Anybody starting "concern" threads that this may be "bad" for Obama is most DEFINITELY a troll.

Don't feed the trolls.

3. Hacks suck - keep your eyes on the ball - the important issue is
Governor MooseBreath was using an unsecure email network to conduct state business. :wtf:

What the fuck, indeed, she was doing so to avoid having to turn over said emails in an investigation. I suppose one could call that obstruction of justice.

If it isn't OoJ it is just plain butt-ignorant, not what we need a heartbeat away from the nuke button.

7. Yep.
Which is why we don't need 20 threads on this.

Yours is a good one though. The others should be left to sink.

Folks are actually discussing whether the Obama camp might or might not have done this.

Guess Rove can thank them very much.

ATTN: DU - A well known hacking group took responsibility for hacking Palin's email

Anonymous

This loose group of Internet vigilantes (vaguely centered around, but not officially connected to, the site 4chan) often harasses unsavory but small-time people, but they did help with the arrest of pedophile Chris Forcand. Their usual tactic is a simple denial of service attack like the one against Scientology.org, but they occasionally get more sophisticated; members tell me they plan to hoist banners above some Church branches. Inspired by the release of Tom Cruise's secret Scientology video and the Church's attempts to suppress it, Anon promises an all-out war.

So any of you knuckleheads even suggesting that Obama OR Rove may be involved etc get that thought out of your mind.

but can anyone prove that the well-known hacking group Anonymous is responsible? Is there a method of communicating with this group to prove this? If so, why haven't they been arrested?

And finally, why the knuckleheads bit? Aren't we all Dems here? Or do you just enjoy insulting people when you feel you have information that other people haven't picked up?

I think /b/ did it. Governor Palin has their attention.

I don't read 4chan because I only surf on my work laptop and don't want to get linked to kiddie porn, but I'll accept that my husband knows what he's talking about.

28. I have another one to add - his very first -
Rove posed as a Democrat and stole letterhead from the Democratic candidate's office. Sent out invitations on the letterhead to tons of people inviting them to a party at the candidate's headquarters.

When the evening of the party rolled around, a crowd showed up and the Democrat's office was dark and no one there (but of course!!).

I personally can't say for sure whether this email pwnage is due to Rovian manipulations, or whether it's genuinely due to Anonymous hackers hanging out on 4chan.

Either way, it's definitely illegal, and best for the Obama campaign to redirect to things like the tanking economy and McCain's lobbyists...
