Sorry, kind of late on this issue.

Did the Palin emails have anything which will hurt her reputation?

1. As much as the issue benefits her?
By putting her back in the news and allowing her to play the victim again?
Doubtful.

9. Bullshit!
It shows her to be extemely niave and incapable of running anything other than a town of 5000. Hell she shouldn't be in charge of a one million dollar budget. Don't let anyone make her the victim for being stupid.

11. Well, yeah, but you are assuming
that the media will make that an issue. Do you really think they will?

Bottom line, most Americans will probably feel sorry for her especially if she doesn't have anything dirty in them.

3. Who gives a shit?
Why are we still talking about this non news? Was Rove successful with this Yahoo brain fart?

5. chill out. It was just a question.
Am I not allowed to ask questions relevant to huge breaking news anymore? I just found out, and rather than spending a while researching I wanted to ask instead.

10. HUGE BREAKING NEWS?
Geeze....give it a break.

THE HUGE FUCKING NEWS IS THE FACT THAT THIS COUNTRY IS DAMN NEAR BANKRUPT!

A Yahoo account break in is a political trick.

13. why are you acting like such an ass?
You don't think I'm pissed about economy? WTF is your problem??

Jesus.

It's big news. When I came on here, all I saw was this and I turned on CNN and saw it as well. It will be a big issue.

Holy shit. Ask a simple question and get attacked for no reason.

25. a yahoo account break?
Is that what they call the simple things like "guessing someone's password". Seriously, what does someone expect when they put an easy to guess password on their email?

Note: if she can't keep her email safe, what of national security matters?

12. It's boring, pointless "Breaking News"
As people lose their jobs in this economy, they're not going to give a flying fuck about whether Sarah baby's email was hacked.

14. Well I certainly hope so. I really don't want this to be a big issue...
but it appears like it is, at this point. Hopefully it will die down soon.

6. Very few of the emails were captured.
But from the email headers that were screencaptured, there's plenty of evidence that she was using the yahoo.com email addresses (she had two) to conduct government business.

Edited on Wed Sep-17-08 06:25 PM by adoraz
Is why someone would put so much effort into hacking an email address, and then only stealing a few. The hacking seems like the hard part, not releasing the emails...

15. He was doing it to prove he could, not politically motivated
These guys are high school and college kids who do things just because they can. They hear "VP candidate has a yahoo.com email address" and laugh because they know how easy it is to crack a yahoo account, then posted the password as soon as they got it. This lead to people changing the password all at the same time which made Yahoo lock the account for 24 hours. Palin deleted both her accounts in the morning when notified that one of them had been breached.

Anonymous can be organized, but they're pretty non-political so this was definitely more about "lolololol I got in" and less serious business to them.

17. interesting, very possible. some here make it seem like
if you don't think Rove did it, you are wrong.

I have seen this happen many, many times where people hacked stuff just for the hell of it, and I know yahoo isn't that hard to hack.

Thanks for the response. I hope this is just a neutral thing, and not done by the Obama or McCain camp. Well, I know Obama didn't do it. If McCain's team/Rove did this to get sympathy, we are in for one awfully disgusting election.

The reason why this news "story" is nothing but some fluffy Alaskan cotton candy which looks and smells much more than it really is. Which is really serious reason to consider it nothing but a plant.

I mean, who gives a shit about Sarah Palin's email? Don't we have anything more scary to worry about? Rome is burning but the email gets traction. Oh boy!

and not myself.

My portfolio has dropped nearly $10,000 the last couple months. I am just as pissed as most people. I realize some have it far worse off, but that doesn't mean I am not extremely upset.

24. When I first made this topic after hearing all the commotion
on DU and in the news, I had assumed some big dirt was dug up. I can't believe this is all that happened.

Dow Down 4.06%... Nasdaq Down 4.94%

I am scared as shit as to what will happen tomorrow and the next few weeks. God, I wish I took my stocks out the end of last year. I was planning to take out about 50% of them... :(

Good luck with your portfolio. Everyone needs it.
