Elko County NV voted 80% - 20% Bush over Kerry in 2004. Today Obama campaigns

Kerry lost NV by about 20,000 votes in 2004. Kerry lost Elko County by nearly 9000 votes. But showing up there may peel away 2000 more votes from the GOP in Elko County and reduce the margin to a -5000 or less. Turning around larger northern Nevada counties like Elko, Douglas, and Washoe counties from lopsided majorities that have countered Dem's big advantage in Clark County is a wonderful strategy.

First Presidential candidate to campaign in Elko? I don't know. I'm so proud of Obama to be campaigning in Elko today.

how red an area it is. Maybe the ranchers who make up those counties are starting to see the light that voting Republican is voting against their own best interests.
