Is George Bush The Only President Who Has Suffered Through Two Separate Bear Markets?
I know that Hoover, of course, presided over the Great Depression, which one big giant bear market. However, I am only aware of George Bush as having presided over two entirely separate bear markets defined as a drop in the market of over 20%. There was a bear market at the beginning of Bush's Presidency, then the market recovered a bit. Then, we now have the current bear market with a drop of 20% from the previous high.

So, is Bush unique in economic incompetence anong American Presidents? Did he pull off a rare double play?

3. What a wonderful legacy - I wonder what his poll numbers are like now
Considering the fact that even Republicans at their convention didn't want him to attend or have any kind of prominence, could his polling numbers possibly be in single digits now?

Bush is unique in incompetence in every way, economic, diplomatic, and everything in between.

5. What About His Experience As A Governor Of An Oil Producing State?
It sure helped a great deal. I guess we could call Palin a Poor Man's Bush, a governor of an oil producing state touting her expertise on energy matters. Or, Mini-Bush.

6. I wouldn't call it "suffering"
Republicans make their money by shorting stock, and you can't consistently short stock if you're in a bull market.

7. I remember something about a President who didn't suffer a recession during
either of his terms ...

Of course, he was a Dem, so it doesn't count ...
