U.S. Jews outraged over phone campaign alleging 'Obama gave money to PLO'

The calls, which have been reported of late in Florida and Pennsylvania, were brought to public attention by the Jewish Council for Education, a pro-Obama organization that has worked to drum up support for the Illinois senator among prospective Jewish voters.

Callers posed questions asking if voters would reconsider their preferred candidate had they learned that "Obama had given money to the Palestine Liberation Organization", or that "the leader of Hamas, Ahmed Yousef, expressed support for Obama and hoped for Obama's victory," or that Obama's political advisors are "pro-Palestinian," or that Obama once said "the Palestinians have suffered the most."

The "pollsters" also asked what would-be Jewish voters thought if they were told that the president of Iran also "endorsed Obama," or if they learned that Obama "supported a united Jerusalem and then switched his opinion and believed in a divided Jerusalem," or Jimmy Carter's "anti-Israel national security advisor is one of Barack Obama's foreign policy advisors."

Officials from the Jewish Council for Education are scheduled to convene a news conference in New York on Tuesday during which they are expected to reveal new information that sheds light on the mysterious campaign intended to smear Obama under the guise of a public survey.

1. This is all funny considering Obama's most trusted political advisor is Jewish
David Axelrod.

5. It was actually two Jewish women that first reported this.
It was on Huffpo a few days ago.

That said - guess it's not working.

12. This idiotic tactic was destined for failure...
being Jewish, I can say for a fact that we are smarter than Repukes and their ilk give us credit for. We are very attuned to anti-Semitism, even in its most diluted form, and are outraged when groups like this try to play us. It won't work, and they should have realized this at the outset when they used this ridiculous tactic.

13. I'm Jewish too and what's even more ridiculous
is that Obama has a rabbi in his family, and that Biden's daughter in law is Jewish.
Biden was even speaking Yiddish to a group of senior citizens in Florida.

And at the same time, it is Palin's church that invites a preacher to speak that says it is okay for terrorists to bomb Israel since the don't believe in Jesus.

If anyone should be making these calls - it should be us, but we would never stoop that low.

7. RJC admits sponsoring negative Obama poll
The Republican Jewish Coalition admitted it sponsored a negative poll about Barack Obama.

Politico reported that the RJC took responsibility for the phone survey in swing states that asked voters their response to negative statements about Obama. Those statements included reported praise for him from a leader of the Palestinian terror group Hamas and a friendship early in his career with a pro-Palestinian university professor.

8. Right from the Rove handbook.
The callers didn't actually say Obama had "given money to the PLO", just asked 'what if?'

15. How much of that is actually true?
My impression is that Obama is depressingly proIsrael/antiPalestinian, like every preceding US president, although less so than Bush; if it's true, I'd find the fact that he's acknowledged that the Palestinians have suffered the most and has pro--Palestinian advisors encouraging.
