AP attempts to bailout McCain with BS spin and lies
Edited on Wed Sep-17-08 10:43 AM by ProSense

McCain leads a dual life as Washington powerbroker

By GLEN JOHNSON, Associated Press Writer

VIENNA, Ohio - John McCain embraces and expels Washington like an accordion player belting out a song.

Squeeze in and he touts his vast knowledge of the capital city. Draw out and he casts himself a reformer bent on changing its ways.

It's a remarkable dichotomy echoed throughout the Republican establishment, as a party that's held the White House for the past eight years tries to retain its grip in what has shaped up as a change election.

<...>

McCain has long considered himself a political maverick, and there's no doubt that the Arizona senator has bucked the system — especially later in his career.

A guy who was so close to the establishment that he once had his own number in the Keating Five scandal, criticized by Senate colleagues for showing poor judgment in helping the man linked to the most prominent failure of the '80s-era savings and loan debacle. Yet one who, over time, has challenged the institutions of Congress with campaign finance legislation and other reform measures.

A character so prominent in his party he could credibly run for its 2000 presidential nomination was enough of a bipartisan figure that Democrat John Kerry considered McCain as a running mate during the 2004 election.

(emphasis added)

Bullshit, it's Keating Five time.

When all else fails, drag out the Kerry's VP lie. Does the media every try to reconcile the fact that McCain was (and still is) a warmonger in 2004 and Kerry was slamming Bush on his immoral war?

2. I never go to Yahoo news
Is Yahoo completely in bed with the Repukes? Almost every article in their politics section was pro-McBush and anti-Obama. I signed in to Yahoo and gave every pro-McBush article a 1 star. That felt good.

5. Maybe my interpretation is off because
a post as Kos suggests that this is AP calling McCain two-faced. I think that's generous spin. Frankly, I see a bunch of wavering people reading this and going away with the impression that McCain is a skillful politician.

There is never any reason to advance the lie the Kerry wanted McCain as his VP, that is unless the writer is trying to establish McCain's bipartisan credentials and credibility.

3. A switched my home page FROM Yahoo last month because of this BS.
Yahoo News is a piece of shit, they choose the most salicious crap off the wires to feature. I'm using MSN, and find it much more calming to see balanced articles.

4. Hmmm...
Overall I wouldn't call it an article that praises McCain... It is basically characterizing him as a huge flip flopper who talks out both sides of his mouth. Read the above statement in context of the full article, and it sounds more like they are talking about how McCain is portraying himself.
