Now that You and I own AIG....
What do you think we should do with it?

As you know, the US Government, we the people, bought out AIG yesterday for $85 billion dollars. They called it a "loan", but we know better. It was "too big to fail". So we now own AIG, the biggest insurance company in America. What do you propose, now that you are a member of the Board of Directors?

Perhaps we can now offer health insurance to all Americans without worrying about a profit? We will work to break even. it would not be free. What about that idea?

But, doesn't it seem rather odd that we can purchase something this large without Congress even having to approve or disapprove? Doesn't the Constitution say that all spending bills must originate in the Congress - not in the Fed?

It must be nice. Who can we buy next? Exxon-Mobil?

2. Well, considering what that's doen to water down the risk pool:
Health insurance, as you say; our auto insurance pool has also been hugely diluted, and offer flood insurance to every American.

3. I was thinking
the very same thing this morning. Since we now have a federal government insurance company why not use it to provide universal health care? Of course the illusion is that we own it. The federal government does not view itself as being owned by the people nor does it view itself as being for the people.
