Do we need to inform younger voters that Dems picked a female VP 20 years ago?
I wonder if young voters in their early 20's may even know that Democrats beat the Republicans on this by almost a quarter of a century? If they don't know this they might be more inclined to be upset with Obama for not putting a woman on the ticket than if they understood that part of the glass ceiling was broken 20 years ago by the Dems. Even if they do realize this, it can't hurt to remind the public that Republicans are 20 years behind the Dems.
I couldn't have named VP picks, especially of the losing ticket, of any races I don't remember. Most people aren't political junkies the way we here are.
5. Something as simple as this could mean the difference of winning or losing
in a very close election. It's one of those things that ordinarily would be taken for granted but shouldn't be. Obama's team needs to educate the young public about Ferraro.
