Blackberry
Sure it's funny and worth some threads. Please do not make it a main focus. Stay on message. Economy. My two cents.

1. It is supportive of the liar narrative
and that's the only use for the story.

3. It's something to be ridiculed. Jesus, when somebody gives you
an opening, you have to take it. What would the Repubs do if someone on OUR side overstated their role in developing new technology? Oh, wait...

5. Yes... but a distraction from the banking mess is what the McCain camp WANTS right now...

This story should be a background, funny, minor story.

It will grow in time... but if it dominates the news cycle today, it's a lost cycle.

6. To be fair, Al Gore may have overstated his personal role, but
he was on the congressional committee that authorized and funded the DARPA. He didn't actually claim to have "invented the internet."

This does, of course, prove your point - the entire country ridiculed Gore mercilessly, and I see no reason why the McCain camp shouldn't be ridiculed for the Blackberry gaffe.

8. I guess we will see how well it plays out. Personally I thought
we were doing better when we focused on the economy. But hey what do I know.

9. Nobody is saying replace the economy with this gaffe--but it certainly deserves to seep
into the collective consciousness, even if it doesn't blot out the sun. Obama can focus on the economy, but surrogates shouldn't miss an opportunity when it arises.
