So why is Greenspan trying to help our side?
You have to know his statement is being put into an Obama commercial at this very moment.

Does he actually have some integrity and realizes the country can't take any more Republican voodoo economics?

What is he up to?

11. He said "this is the worst economy I've ever seen" contrast to McCain's
the "fundamentals of the economy are strong" just 3 1/2 weeks ago.

It shows McCain doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.

5. If he has any hope for future sheep to fleece
he has to give them time to grow some wool back.

Besides, don't ignore the part of his warning that talks about cutting government spending on "luxury" items like social security, education, welfare, etc -- that's the sub context of his message

17. He's like 80 years old...
I don't think he cares too much about what tomorrow will bring.

Look, I don't agree with almost anything the guy has done over the last 25 years, but, he always seemed to have, at least in his mind, the best interests of the government as it relates to commerce and finance foremost in his mind.

He is all for shrinking government, but he has to know that the Democrats will parse his message in order to use it against McCain.

10. He doesn't care for what Bush has done, yet...
like Powell, he played along. Have you read Paul O'Neill's book, 'The Price of Loyalty:...'? It will give you an idea of what Greenspan thinks of both Bush and Cheney, who was once a good friend of his.

18. Greenspan is a hard to figure out guy.
Sure, before he was appointed Chairman of Fed Reserve, he contributed to Republican candidates... but after that no further political contributions were made that were recorded of any size.

Plus he worked continually throughout Clinton and part way into Buhs.

Mark.

21. Greenspan is the pope of the Corporatists
Do. Not. Trust. Him.

In a sane and moral world, he would be tried for crimes against humanity. He might be cleared ... but he would be tried.

23. It's all part of the pattern
The corporatist powers-that-be let the Republicans run things for a while, racking up huge profits for a select few and further stratifying society, until the blatantly infeasible Republican policies get close to causing catastrophic economic damages. Then they get the Democrats in to fix everything and actually get things working again, villifying us all the while as tax-raising anti-business socialists. Then, when things are better, they put the GOP back in charge to usher in the next golden robber-baron age of massive profits and class warfare. Repeat ad nauseam.
