In every situation in life, the main thing is...stay calm. I, too, am scared listening to the disturbing developments in the financial world. We are without a doubt teetering on the edge of REALLY bad. We have been solidly in BAD for awhile now.

But here's the thing...freaking out isn't going to change anything. It's like Friday night when I am listening to the radio stations say, "Don't go top off your tank, cause that's what will cause a problem. There is plenty of gas in storage to get us through this, but if you all run out and fill up your tanks at once it will cause temporary shortages." So, what did I pass on my way home? Every gas station had lines out onto the road. And what happened? Gas jumped 60 cents a gallon and the stations ran out of gas for 24 hours. I got my gas this afternoon. It was 30 cents cheaper than it was on Friday.

Anyway, DON'T FREAK OUT. All we have is the present. The future isn't here yet and there are about a zillion variables at play. I am not going to play Pollyanna and tell you that everything is going to be GREAT...but it will be OK again. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Freaking out isn't going to make things better and absolutely can only lead to things being worse I pay this month's house note, this month's car note and I buy groceries for this week. We save what we can (which is precious little) and we go forward with the knowledge that we will deal with things as they come up. But no matter how scary it gets...

The main thing is...stay calm.

I was trying a new diet, "See how long I can stomach Bill-O-the-clown before I lose my dinner". I had to change the channel after Morris declared that Obama is weak because he "can't" give a short "soundbite" answer. Great diet folks. I fully expect to lose ten pounds by next Sunday with only about 43 seconds of pain a night.

On the serious note though, I am concerned for the many youth like myself (late 20s to early 30s) who are seeing their 401k go "poof". Worst retirement plans ever!
