Palin is not Hillary Clinton

George W. Bush has said that “you can fool all of the people some of the time, and those are the ones you want to concentrate on,” and this sage wisdom was employed to the utmost by John McCain and his handlers with the selection of Sarah Palin as the Republican vice presidential nominee. Those people who can be fooled all of the time have turned a slight Obama advantage into a thin edge for John McCain in the polls.

These swing voters are the same people who voted for Bush the second time around, those so incredibly stupid and lacking in the core patriotism necessary to vote responsibly. Some of them see a woman, and they think Hillary Clinton. Others, predisposed to voting Republican but doubting McCain on several fronts, now see youth and pure conservatism, a commitment to domestic drilling, unrestricted gun sales, reckless wars on any front, even with Russia, and an unwavering commitment to reversing Roe vs. Wade.

Anyone who supported Clinton who has gone over to the McCain camp because of Palin is an idiot, and they really shouldn’t be allowed to vote because they don’t understand what voting is supposed to accomplish. These two people share absolutely nothing in common except a few anatomical features. Palin is 180 degrees opposite of Hillary on the issues from what I can gather, and I hedge because I frankly don’t think that Palin has much of a grasp on the issues at all.

So far we have Palin connecting Iraq to 911 yesterday while asserting that we are fighting a “Holy War” over there. She then went on to say that if she and McCain were elected, a war with Russia to remove them from Georgia was most certainly an option. Ms. Palin, just because you are willing to sacrifice your children to your “Holy Wars,” doesn’t mean that the rest of us are. You and McCain will be drafting not only my 22 year old son, but for Christ’s sake, if you want to fight Russia, Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan at the same time you’ll be drafting my 48 year old ass!

This woman is dangerous as hell, and I cannot imagine her being able to withstand any kind of intellectual pressure. There are people who I disagree with for the most part, like Condoleeza Rice, for example, who I respect for their intelligence and grasp of the scope of world affairs. But I don’t think that the utterly naive and scarily aggressive Palin has any clue concerning international geopolitical realities, and it is an insult to the intelligence of thinking Americans to ask us to consider placing her in a position that would be one 70-something year old heartbeat from the presidency of the United States of America.

Wake up America!! Palin would be a funny joke if she wasn’t a national security risk that demonstrates the utter irresponsibility and cynicism of the Republican Party and their candidate for president, John McCain.
