Thank you Charlie Gibson
I am amazed reading some DU comments about the Palin interviews
and the attacks on Charlie Gibson because he destroyed her. Any
doubt that she is ready to be President was ended last night and Gibson
let Palin do it in her own words.

I am no fan of much of the MSM but Gibson looked like a decent and very
experienced teacher or professor giving an oral exam to a student that
was not ready for the test.

1. Gibson/ABC were such asses to Obama in a previous debate and you can't change their stripes,
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 07:04 AM by EV_Ares
I guess Charlie was under pressure to do an interview with some actual questions that were not framed to make her look good.

I still do not trust him in any sense or at least need more time to change my view of him and ABC.

3. But didn't they already screen the questions?
Shouldn't she have devastated the interview with amazingly brilliant responses???

5. In order to do that, she would have needed to understand the questions.
She's a complete dumbass and it showed.

2. LOL. It reminded me of Sally Kellerman quizzing Rodney
Dangerfield in that comedy 'Back to School'. Except Gibson was obviously not enthralled. More like repulsed.

6. I agree. I think he was quite frustrated with her....
ignorance, and, like some others in his field, are waking up because they recognize the danger she poses to this country.

I held my breath, waiting for him to cave in, but even in the segment shown this morning on GMA, he didn't cut her any slack. He was fair. He was a journalist, IMO.

:)

"Okay, enough, already, where is Ashton? I know when I'm being punked"

What was going through her mind - air.

11. I have to admit that I was more than just a little bit skeptical. But all things considered, he did
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 07:09 AM by Douglas Carpenter
a pretty good job for a mediocre journalist. It's not that Charlie's questions were particularly tough...I'm sure a better journalist would have done better.

But at least it was NOT all softball questions.

I was half expecting him to ask questions like, "Please tell us how you are able to remain such a strong and effective leader while standing up to corruption within your own party?, Is this because of your deep sense of community values coupled with your strong family ties and your close relationship with God?"

Really, it was not a tough interview at all. And he certainly did not aggressively pursue her in the least bit. She is simply unprepared to answer serious questions, even after more than a week of first rate coaching and prepping by some of the world's leading media experts.

14. Gibson did much better with Palin than Russert did with Bush; from what I have seen so far.
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 07:14 AM by gordianot
Russert wasted his chance with Bush.

I suspect this may be the last time Palin speaks without much more coaching for a long time. Expect some cute preplanned sound bites at the upcoming Vice Presidential debate (even then she may fire them out of context). Also like Bush look for a personal sound system next time she speaks. Maybe they can implant the receiver in her mastoid bones she is going to need it.

Nice to see that even Gibson has an ounce or two of integrity.

17. Gibson is 50/50 right now. 1 for the attack on Obama in the debate and now a "fair and
balanced interview" with Palin.

19. I'll give him props for
catching himself when he realized she had no idea what he was talking about when he said Bush doctrine. If you watch him, when she asks in what respect Charlie, he starts to respond but then a lightbulb goes off in his head and he realizes she's clueless and he lets her hang herself a bit. Sooooo funny!

Instead of asking if she's met any heads of state, he should have asked her if she could name 5 heads of state, other than Medvedev

the Hillary question was stupid, what kind of question is that
