TIME: 'Palin Meets the Mainstream Media' (positively spinning the Palin/Gibson interview)
Seriously. The writer, Nancy Gibbs, gives Palin high marks for the ABC interview, a glowing review.

    Palin Meets the Mainstream Media
    Nancy Gibbs
    9/11/2008

    ...

She parried questions like a fencer. Pressed about her lack of foreign policy experience, she pivoted to her work on oil and gas policy, calling energy "a foundation of national security." Asked if she'd ever traveled outside the country before her trip last year to Kuwait to visit U.S. soldiers, she spun around to call it a trip of a lifetime, since it also included visits with wounded soldiers in Germany — a stop the McCain campaign repeatedly charged Obama with refusing to make during his trip overseas in July. Asked if she'd ever met a head of state, she raised her unshaken hand like a badge of honor: "We've got to remember what the desire is in this nation at this time," she said. "It is for no more politics as usual and somebody's big fat résumé maybe that shows decades and decades in that Washington establishment where, yeah, they've had opportunity to meet heads of state."

    ...

2. Were we watching the same interview? Talk about spin...I'm dizzied by this
glowing assessment of such a pathetic performance. "Hell bent on..." How many times did she repeat those words...??? Gawd she's annoying.

3. Read it again. That is not a complimentary review.
She's basically saying Palin dodged all the questions.

11. I concur, but...
It will still be endlessly touted as the beseiged Ms. Palin's victory over the evil forces of the Liberal Media. No doubt it will be excerpted and soundbyted to death, to make her look less like a ridiculous amateur and more like an affable everywoman. After all, how many women out there can say that they've shaken hands with heads of state? I can hear it now:

"Why, this Sarah Palin is just like me. I'd like to have a beer with her."

You're right, I think, in that the article does clearly spell out how she dodged every question, but that kind of bullshit has been playing very well with the RW base for the past eight years, so there's no reason to think that the idiots won't continue to lap it up.

13. I did read it twice. To be sure.
You might want to read it again, yourself. You won't find negative terms such as "dodged" in it. Yes, the writer notes times when Palin didn't answer a question, but uses terms like "parries" and other positive spin.

I watched the interview and know how Palin sucked, but someone just reading this article will get a distinctly different impression.

28. "Parried" is NOT a positive term. It means she warded off or
avoided the questions.

The journalist just used flowery terms to say that Palin avoided every question. That is not a positive review.

16. You must have read something different than me
Cause I watched the interview and what the author was doing in that column was spining wildly.

Gibson reshuffled the deck and cast the U.S. as the pre-emptive invader. In asking Palin whether she agreed with the Bush Doctrine, he was actually asking whether she knew what it was. There followed a long pause"

a long pause? go watch it again there wasnt a pause there was rampant disembling folowed by being told what the bush doctrine was.

That article at least the first page was pure propaganda. I am not so sure the second page was any better in its drollness.

I saw nothing possitive in that article.

25. Right. It was two different reviews... with review/page 1 being delusional pro-Palin spin ...
... and the 2nd page being non-committal blathering.

4. Ah, the Republican media
So Orwellian that it has been spun as liberal. Bought and paid for by Bushco. God, we have so much work to do. I'm tired at the very thought. Going to bed.

Could Time Magazine kiss her ass any harder?

The right wing media is working hard for their masters today.

that remark about visiting germany....

that is surely planned, rehearsed

15. Wouldn't need to see the questions in advance.... for that one.
The "international travel" question has been asked previously, and they'd been caught bulls**ting, and so came up with another response.

26. Yes. I think they worked through a lot of questions they've heard on the trail so far ...
... but didn't contemplate a Bush Doctrine question. Gotta give Gibson credit for that one.

21. "A new spirituality?"
I want to see her up there crying like Jimmy Swaggart, and begging for Biden to allow her to reregister as a democrat so she can die under a blue flag.

20. ROFLMAO @ "She parried questions like a fencer."
An incompetent one, which is sad because even someone who's just frantically waving the epee (or sabre, if you prefer) could score more and do better than she did.

They're not journalist or analysts- they're fiction writers!

I've heard undergrads babble on better that Palin did, when they hadn't read their assignments.
