That's the only way I can summarize it. So incredibly refreshing.
That was actually like watching news coverage instead of an juvenile display by Olbermann. Gregory handled it perfectly, highlighting the key points, and handed it off to Matthews and then Buchanon. I didn't see anything to pick at, other than Gregory's ongoing tendency to say he was "struck by." There isn't another term?
Buchanon gave full props to Obama, saying it was a good night for McCain but an excellent night for Obama, with the questioning centered on service to the country and essentially a home game at Columbia. Both Matthews and Buchanon said it was obviously post-Reagan era with so much emphasis on extending government programs instead of slashing them.
From my point of view, Obama was very impressive but still needs more memorable sound bites. He had at least one, "need to make government cool again." I also liked that he immediately said "yes" regarding the ROTC reinstated on college campuses like Columbia. You need an emphatic response on a question like that, not a scholarly wander.
Gad, this almost makes MSNBC worth watching again. Real world analysis instead of Olbermann and Maddow predetermining their slant and taking it to ludicrous extreme. We're in a 50/50 election but that duo wants to make believe it's 95/5.
