4. I live in Dallas so we are out of the initial impact

19. And watch out for nasty thunderstorms/tornados, too.
I was in Dallas when Irene hit in 1983, and we had some really, really nasty storms as the hurricane moved inland. Be safe.

21. I've been in a couple hurricanes and it is really a drag with all the rain
The wind is dangerous, of course, but all that rain is just the worst!

3. I'm gonna try and beat it across Texas tomorrow on I-20
I need to get to Shreveport and think I can get across Texas and to LA by 6pm before it hits

am I wrong??

10. Prediction has gotten pretty accurate - especially for 24/48 hrs:

Average errors in the hurricane tracks are now:

24-hours: 80 miles

48-hours: 110 miles

72 hours: 230 miles

22. We are already getting rain bands in Lake Charles
Its 400 miles away from us and we are getting feeder bands. This is a storm with a huge wind field.
We are 25 miles from the coast, so the surge is not predicted to flood badly except in low lying areas here. Cameron (25 miles south of us) on the other hand is predicted to get over 15 foot surge, so it'll be toast.....again.
