You need to rent and see the documentary called "Our Brand is Crisis" to get a better understanding of the whole campaign process. I know lots of folks here hate Carville but it's a great documentary and it gives good insight into how this whole thing works.

If you are to believe this film, NOTHING is left to chance. All possible scenarios are hypothesized and a plan is in place for all possibilities.

On a slightly different note:

One thing to keep in mind is this—many have said it and will say it for years to come—Obama has run the smartest campaign we've seen in years. If we don't win, it's not because his campaign wasn't run well, it's not because he didn't fight back (because he does) and it's not because people don't believe he would be a good leader. It's because we don't get people to the polls. We have OUT REGISTERED the GOP, full stop.

It's like the story this week about the folks in Michigan who are being targeted because of foreclosure and incorrect addresses on their voter reg forms. We need boots on the ground or folks on the phone making sure these registered folks have the correct addresses. 'Cause I guarantee you, most folks who have lost their homes to foreclosure have more pressing matters than to remember to update their voter reg. We need to kindly remind them that it's important for their futures to update their registration and vote. It's the little things like this that make all the difference in elections.

So when you're finished blasting the Obama campaign for not "doing it right" go out this weekend with Voter reg forms and don't just ask people to register to vote, ask them if they've moved recently and need to update their address, make sure the GOP can't get away with all their dirty tricks.
