Roger Ebert gives Palin a THUMBS DOWN
Roger Ebert Pans Palin

Venerable film critic Roger Ebert waded into politics Thursday to review Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

The verdict? Thumbs Down.

Palin is "the American Idol candidate," Ebert wrote in a Chicago Sun-Times op-ed.

What defines an "American Idol" finalist? They're good-looking, work well on television, have a sunny personality, are fierce competitors, and so talented, why, they're darned near the real thing. There's a reason "American Idol" gets such high ratings.
Ebert, however, says that's not enough of a qualification.

I want a vice president who is better, wiser, well-traveled, has met world leaders, who three months ago had an opinion on Iraq. Someone who doesn't repeat bald- faced lies about earmarks and the Bridge to Nowhere.

2. Ebert makes a great point
How many people who paint Harvard as "Elite" would make their kid turn down a scholarship to any Ivy League School?

4. She's so like the delusional contestants who try out for something they are clearly unequipped for.

7. Rick Davis said campaign w/ a composite view. Composite = fakery, not pure
possibly completely opposite of what's really there.

Rick Davis' words keep popping up so much in my mind that I felt forced to write down exactly what it is about what he said that bothered me so much.

Of course I KNOW Mccain is trying to make this a campaign about Star Power, already knew that but that was just on the surface level.

Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain's presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning.

"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

Aren't composite views artificial, manmade manipulations (aka bullshit) of the original image?

So we have to chip away at the fascade to get to the original image. Expose what's underneath the fakery even if it's one little flake at a time.

Seems to me that the composite view the Mccain campaign has chosen to create is one that is in complete opposition of truth.

Honest = Dishonest
Honorable = Dishonorable
Truth = Lie
Save = Spend
Life = Death
Peace = War
Love = Hate
Moral = Immoral
Freedom = Tyranny
Transparent = Opaque
Safe = vulnerable

Good = Evil

Just wow. At least I feel better now that I put my thoughts into words.
