Mary Frances Berry Endorses Clark!
Press Releases
For Immediate Release
Date: January 6, 2004
Mary Frances Berry, Chair Of The United States Commission On Civil Rights, Endorses General Clark, Will Serve On National Steering Committee

Little Rock - Sunday, at a "Women for Clark" event in Manchester, New Hampshire, Dr. Mary Frances Berry officially endorsed General Clark. Dr. Berry will serve as a member of the Clark for President National Steering Committee.

"I've never endorsed a presidential candidate before," said Dr. Berry. "But when I talk to General Clark, and when I listen to him, I can see him as a president for all Americans."

General Clark was thrilled to receive Dr. Berry's endorsement.

"For years, Dr. Berry has been a powerful voice for justice - in the classroom, in our courts, and in the halls of Congress. She's devoted her career to standing up and speaking out for those who all too often are not heard, and we're a better nation because of her work," saidClark. "Dr. Berry is one of the greatest civil rights leaders of our time, and it's a profound honor to have her on my team."

Dr. Berry is Chair of the United States Commission on Civil Rights and a professor of history at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Berry led the Commission's investigation of voting rights violations in Florida in the wake of the 2000 election. The United States Commission on Civil Rights investigates civil rights violations and works to ensure that all citizens are afforded equal protection.

4. But don't all "real" Democrats hate Clark?
Guess Ms Berry has had us fooled all along. She can't be a liberal activist-she must be a DINO if she supports Clark! Just like Charlie Rangel and the rest of us.

Hey, I support Dean, AND think this is a great endorsement for Clark.

I'm multitasking, and capable of multisupporting.

Try it, you'll like it, LOL!

8. This real funny. . .
. . .Mary Frances Berry was one of the few people who really fought what happened in Florida, she has been a constant pain in the ass for Bush. . .but since she supports Clark there are those on the DU who seek to diss her. It says a lot more about the dissers than it does Ms. Berry.

28. Sorry, I've been a pacifica supporter for three years...
and MFB was instrumental in an attempted takeover of that network. I don't think much of Ms. Berry.

By the by, I believe the Democratic party was responsible for the major disenfranchisement in Florida since they did nothing about it.

10. Again she does not endorse Dean so there is something wrong with her. . .
. . .I am getting sick of this crap. She endorsed Clark and hopefully people will accept and respect that without bashing her.

17. I Believe She Was the Head Of The Civil Rights Commision, No ???
What did she do to piss you off so???

And does she have the support of the African American community? Cause if she does, ya might wanna be careful about HOW you go after her. Legit criticism is, well... legit. But after the way the racist right has attacked her over the years, you might wanna make your complaints clear, so as not to be lumped in with them, no???

29. She tried to take over Pacifica
tried to rewrite the constitution of the network so she and her cadre could take over the entire network. She should think about it next time she talks about people's rights.

In the summer of 1999, 15,000 people had to block off the street when she and her group tried to shut down KPFA (did shut down, I should say)

12. MFB was on a lot of people's sh*t lists, and not because of Clark
go ahead, google her and the word "pacifica". all of the criticisms were written before Clark even thought of becoming a democrat. if you're happy with the MFB endorsement, then i'm happy for you. but this is definitely a case where i'm glad someone did NOT endorse Dean. MFB has less than zero credibility in my eyes and a lot of other people's. and for good reason.

DO you know anything about Mary Frances Berry, or are you simply supporting Clark and attacking anyone who questions that conclusion?

22. This is a heavy endorsement
She's tough. She's the one who had the showdown with the people in FL who stole the election, and humiliated Katherine Harris. She's already gone toe to toe with the Bush Crime Family and proved herself a powerful adversary.

Her endorsement means a great deal to me personally. Glad to have someone of her caliber standing with Wes, and me, as we prepare to take back the White House for *all* our Nation from the extremists who have hijacked it, plundered it, and disgraced it.

Thank you for the news.

It's up there with Rangel for Clark, and (alas) Conyers for Dean.
Huge.
