I am skeptical about the Dean "inevitability" argument
I've been reading a lot and hearing a lot about how Dean is being treated as though he has the nomination in the bag already, and that his supporters are acting as though that's the case as well. As a Dean supporter, I can tell you from personal experience that none of us feel that way, and every time I hear about the "whore media" promoting the idea of Dean's inevitability, I have to say "Sez who?"

I know of not one Dean supporter who feels like the nomination is in the bag, by any stretch of the imagination. If you could see the amount of work that is being put into the primary process, you would conclude that his supporters are not exactly resting on their laurels and acting like the fat lady has sung.

Dean is not inevitable.

The nomination has not been sewn up.

We know that, and Dean does too.

1. The only people who waste time talking about it
are Dean opponents.

But it benefits us, so let them.

6. An interesting argument...
Except I have yet to see or hear any major media outlet describe a Dean nomination as inevitable. I would love to see one single solitary quote from any media source saying that he has it in the bag.

Almost all the media coverage I have encountered says that he's too negative, he's unelectable, and he probably won't get the nomination. I have no idea where people get the idea that ANYONE believes he's got it all sewn up. I haven't seen that anywhere.

7. Thanks for the insult...
to all of us Dean supporters who have been out busting our asses week in and week out to get Dean into the position he is now...

Yeah, sure, it is the evil media that has Dean on top....

I know for a fact that I have given money that I couldv'e used for my family, canvassed neighborhoods when I should have been spending more time on my dissertation, writing letters to people in Iowa and NH pouring out my deep feelings about how important this election is....

Only to have you come along and say that this is all down to the media pumping him up.....

This goes a long way towards explaining why so many people don't get what is happening over in the Dean camp...politics as usual is dead...if your candidate is running a 90s style campaign in the 21st century, well, I think that better explains why they trail Dean....

Sorry....

10. Boosting numbers?
You think repeating the claims of his inevitability helps his numbers go up? I agree! This is why I enjoy every reference to it posted on this board by Dean opponents. Keep it up!

2. I agree
I feel things are more tenative than ever before. There is no coasting, we need to redouble our efforts and it is becoming more difficult because instead of just focusing on Iowa and New Hampshire, suddenly there are nine states to focus on.
