We can't lose on the issues.

The economy and peoples' personal financial concerns is the Number One Issue:

Do you know how many people have no idea that we are spending $10 billion a month on the war? Tons of people and when you tell them they literally suck in their breath. One woman who came by my lit table actually hugged her pocketbook. Once they know this, they begin to put things together....not enough money for gas or heating oil...no more student loans...high unemployment...huge national debt. GIVE PEOPLE THE INFORMATION AND THEY WILL FIGURE IT OUT. I really believe this. We need to have more and more people hugging their pocketbooks or reaching to check if their wallets are still in their pockets. WE NEED TO MAKE IT PERSONAL.

Healthcare is the Number Two Issue:

People don't have it...or they are paying more and more for it...or it's not there when they really need it. I have a friend who has been diagnosed with cancer. She ran into trouble with her insurance company (a very good one) when she went for a second opinion. Frightening, personal. WE NEED TO MAKE IT PERSONAL.

I could go on and on, but the point I'm trying to make is that the Democrats have the issues. Only the crazies who believe the end times are near are going to vote contrary to their own best interests. I think we need to focus on the grim facts of the last 8 years and the issues and let McCain and Palin burble on. The only way they can win is if we take our collective eye off the ball.

I've said this before but I think it bears saying again:

STICK TO THE MAIN TENT AND AVOID THE SIDESHOWS!
