I want Obama, Biden and other Democrats openly mocking and attacking the word "maverick" the way Republicans have been mocking "change" and now "community organizer". It's past time to make that word a punchline. I'd love to see an ad that utterly nukes that myth. You could start with a black screen with the text "Maverick?" on it. Then you follow it with a shot of a bucking bronco, a shot of James Garner at the poker table, a shot of Tom Cruise in Top Gun then a shot of the McCain/Bush embrace. A few of these clips could be used again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4DrL8-UA4U along with the usual shots of McCain and Bush yucking it up. I think "So Happy Together" by The Turtles would be ideal background music for such an ad.

2. Also, the Palin pick would be a great inroad for attacking "maverick" as well.
"How can John McCain say he's a maverick who will stand up for you when he can't even stand up to the right wing of his own party when it's time for him to pick his Vice President? How will he fight extremists around the world when he can't fight them in his own party?"

3. because the Obama campaign is a bunch of wusses
The Republicans know how to fight. We haven't had a candidate who did since the '90s.
