Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 10:44 PM by dailykoff
I see the hand-wringers and finger-waggers are having a field day by leaving DU forever, or at least until the next story breaks, when they'll back in force to tell us to keep the focus on Ossentia and let the media do their job.

Well, the media isn't going to do their job, and Obama obviously can't get the word out about the latest scandal, so that leaves us. So PLEASE put the net nannies on permanent ignore and keep kicking the bastards while they're down, or they'll get up and steal another election while we're busy nagging each other.

Just my $.02, carry on! :hi:

4. Geez I didn't realize Kilpatrick was out.
So they got rid of another black pol. I'd been hearing about his legal troubles and frankly it sounded like a typical railroad job, the kind they used to get rid of McKinney twice. Thanks for the link.

And yeah, that's EXACTLY what the media sees its job as--catapulting the propaganda as instructed and getting pukes elected. They are just about completely useless any more.

2. Agree with you though. WE need to define Palin right now.
She's got lots and LOTS of political baggage. Substantiated stuff is not off the table.

I mention the GOP ad because it's a reminder that we can't afford to not use every tool we have to fight back.

8. I can't for the life of me figure out all this high-mindedness.
Has the GOP ever done anything but lie, cheat, and exploit? And does anybody really think DU is some kind of reflection on the official campaign? The logic of these temperance posts is completely mystifying.

11. I hear you. "The Sleep of Reason Amid Wild Dogs and Gin:
The Politics of The Comfort Zone.

Joe Bageant. Writing in 2005, after a particularly informing 2004. Or so many of us would like to think.

Lots of lessons since forgotten...many have apparently still never been learned.

3. She needs to be ignored. DU is filled with hypocrites. What is stupider that focusing on Palin?
SHE ISN"T RUNNING FOR POTUS. She's a distraction.

So you are just another DU'er without the fucking sense to realize how pathetic this obsession is and how counterproductive.

You are doing EXACTLY WHAT ROVE WANTED.

The weak, brain washed seizure of the Culture War bullshit is all your. Congratulations for taking the stinking pile of rancid bait.

5. How did that work out in 2004?
And before you start moaning about what a wimp Kerry was, he DID fight back, and hard, but nobody bothered switching off CNN long enough to read the stories.

7. Guess what, cryingshame?
A running mate - even a novelty one - is certainly not a distraction. Do you really think the idiots on the other side are urging one another not to be distracted by Joe Biden? Please.

She's the bottom half of a ticket that stinks top to bottom. This isn't an obsession. She was brought in entirely to shore up McCain's credibility with his base and snag however many dozen PUMAs are out there. Instead of denigrating the OP, you might want to examine your own motives in trying to dissuade people from going after the Republican Vice Presidential nominee. Would you have counseled people to lay off Agnew or Quayle? Or Cheney? And if so, why?

BTW, Rove is irrelevant, or would be if you'd stop invoking him as some deus ex machina in all this. Rove's a shit thrower. Their party's been full of them for the last half century. Big deal.

13. A potential heartbeat from the presidency, if they could manage to steal another one.
is not a mere "distraction". At a minimum, it says everything about McCain, his agenda and his judgement.

6. Palin: Beats and Waves
An unpleasant fact that the Republicans and their broadcast media stooges want us to ignore is that Sarah Palin would be President if John McCain gets sworn in on January 20th next year and then dies or becomes incapacitated.

Heartbeats and brain-waves. The rest of us know that, even if the hand-wringers don't want us to think about such unpleasant thoughts.

14. Tht's about the long and short of it
Loser talk.

Unfortunatly, from what a lot of us can tell, it goes high up in the Obama campaign, who seems to think it can run the same types of campaigns that have lost repeatedly in the past and expect a different result.

16. Undermining Palin directly undermines McCain
Her incompetency, lies, abuses of power, and extremist fringe beliefs reflect badly on McCain and his ability to make sound executive decisions. It also reflects badly on his claim to be a maverick, when it's clear he let himself be led by the nose by Limbaugh, Dobson, and Rove who wanted Palin to be his running mate and that he's not his own man. The more Palin is exposed as a joke of a candidate, the more it reflects on McCain's lack of good judgement.

18. Yes, and she's billed as the ticket-saver America can't resist
and if we let that go unchallenged, they'll be peddling as the reason they "won" in November.

23. Sarah "whack-job" Palin is going to drag McTiredAndConfusedBeyondBelief down with her no matter what
we say in here.

She's so corrupt, so twisted, and so used to being part of a small state that no amount of coaching and practicing will ever hide the wacko side of her.

So post whatever you wish in this forum. It's a free country, it's a Democratic forum, and it's all about having fun at the repugnant's expense.
