Republicans for Obama have this to say about Palin
While doing research to send to some on the fence friends, I came across this website-- Republicans for Obama. It's very interesting reading, lots of appeals to the conservatives of the party to vote for Obama, and some Republicans who are mourning the loss of their party's core values in its pandering to the extreme religious right. I hope it's alright to post this here, as they are FOR Obama, and I certainly want to encourage more Republicans to make this choice. I can sympathize with the loss involved for them, as it must be tough to leave a party you grew up with, etc. The desire to do so seems rooted in a firm grasp on the reality that the party has changed for the worst in the past ten years. If any of yo have on the fencers, this site can be a good transition place for them to get info. I just found their thinking on the "family is off limits" meme interesting:

snip:

What's with this "family is off limits" stuff? If, so, why are they taking all these photos of "people" who we suppose are family? Checking out family is one of the best ways to determine who folk are- really are. It's a way of seeing if the candidate walks the talk. A wife with a "pout" and bruises can be indicative of a lot of things. A pregnant teenage daughter can be, also.
But the real thing we ought look for in the choosing of Palin, is the evidence of full and unadulterated "vetting" of the person who's gonna be a heartbeat away from the presidency. And, they way McCain chose to use her, at the moment America needed to know more about her, was NOT to have her act like a pit bull attacking Obama's hindparts. And, what's with her describing herself as a "pit bull with lipstick". What was that line all about? "Pert and cute" is alright-in its place. At a major party Convention and on national TV is NOT the place for a nominee to be the Vice President of the United States, to be setting herself, and her family up for some well-deserved counter-punching.
Don't ya;ll forget where this all started, and by whom..

1. I've said that before about Cindy.. Not happy and bruises easily.. and
we know he has a temper.. The whole story on how she hurt her back is just odd.. Picking up a child, rupture's your discs.. Doesn't make sense.

2. Thanks for the link
Sometimes it takes Republicans to convince Republicans. But the idea that the GOP is no longer the GOP of years past is one I've heard from many, including my 90 year old mother.

told me she cannot vote for McCain. She was planning to until the convention, but she's very concerned about the process through which McCain selected Palin. "He made an important decision at a crucial time without even bothering to get information that would have been very easy for him to obtain. I used to vote for him, but I just can't anymore."

(edited to correct typo)

4. I think there's fertile ground in the non-religious fanatic part of the GOP.
