Palin Story - National Enquirer, US Magazine, People Magazine
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 02:09 PM by RamboLiberal
Bought all 3 at lunch.

National Enquirer story is basically what they have on the web plus that she had affair with Todd's business partner but no details. Wait till next week. Only other info was that she has a stormy relationship with Bristol, can't control her and has little time for her with her career. Todd tries when he has time to play Mr. Mom but there are things Bristol doesn't want to share with him.

US actually covers the rumor that Trig is Palin's grandson. They show pics we are familiar with. The family photo some claim here is from 2006 with Bristol having a bit of a tummy. US claims that photo is from 2007. They also show the red shirt big tummy Sarah and the brown suit 6 month 2008 Sarah. They have a small timeline on Bristol being out of school for 5 months, Sarah announcing she's 7 months March 5th, and the April 17-18 Texas to Alaska delivery story.
They claim May is when online rumors started.

They also mention Troopergate, giggling while political rival is called bitch and cancer on radio show, Bridgegate, Ted Stevens connection, and Mother-in-law liking Obama.

In 2007 Sarah made $125,000 & Todd $93,000. And they cover most of the other stuff we know about Palin, Bristol and Levi.

Only revelation in People is that Sarah didn't tell her kids Trig was going to be a Down Syndrome kid until after he was born.

Ask me anything else of what's in mags and I'll try to answer.

5. Who knows - US is fairly mainstream
The rumor of Trig being grandkid was called Anatomy of a Scandal. "Questions over these photos led to Alaskan governor's stunning admission about her teenage daughter Bristol."

National Enquirer could be devastating if they have any solid proof in next couple of weeks.

7. They're trying to say that "Us" lost several thousand subscriptions
over their negative coverage versus the People happy fluff, mostly from their conservative readership. I imagine they'll survive, and I'd bet they learned their lesson from past tabloid litigation issues that they'd better have their story lined up. I doubt they'd set themselves up for a lawsuit.

I'm glad to see these hitting the stands for those average voters who aren't following the political coverage. Let the tabloids and pop culture mags do what the MSM won't. Obama/Biden can focus on the REAL issues against McCain, and Mooseburger takes a big PR hit.

6. Take a look at this site and note the dates on the comment entries
They go back to before Palin was named VP candidate.

Sounds like the National Enquirer has enough material here to run new stories every week until the election....

Love this comment, apparently from an Alaskan, dated 7/26/08:

"We elected an individual with no moral compass, no education, no background, no experience, just a blinding need to be the most popular girl in school. "Cute" can only take you so far then the veneer starts to peel."

Hmmm.

9. Why wouldn't they tell the children about Trig being a Down Syndrome baby?
That is very strange to me.

I would think that you would want to prepare and educate the entire family about what to expect.

23. That sounds like a very sensible answer even if we don't know if it is true.
The only other thing I can think of is if Down syndrome babies are considered "high risk" and they wanted to protect their other children in case anything went wrong.

All the other ideas I have make her look real bad.

11. Funny stuff
A few weeks back, the NE was considered a total rag on DU when it was pushing the Edwards story. Now it is cited as a valid news sourse. As the old saying goes, Politics makes strange bedfellows.

Rumor and innuendo abound. This is some crazy stuff.

19. You missed my point
Yes, the NE was very accurate on Edwards. My point was that before Edwards admitted it, 90% of DU'ers were calling NE a rag, a joke, etc. Even after they chased Edwards through a hotel at 2 in the morning. That's when I became convinced.

Now that NE reports -- based on an anonymous source -- that Palin had an affair in the 1990's, it is cited as solid journalism.

I just find that kind of weird.

25. Oh, I knew there had to be fire behind the Edwards smoke. His job used to be suing people.
The NE wasn't gonna mess with someone who got huge settlements for other people if they didn't have their facts at least semi-straight.

When I heard the NE had the Edwards story, I was pretty sure there was some there there, right from the get-go.

NE is still a rag, but it's been right about a lot of big scandals.

With the bank roll of cindy...they could put up a valiant fight...but the NE has been down this road before so I kinda think they will be "cocked and ready" when mclame makes an attempt to silence them.

I figured the National Enquirer was right about Edwards. People that didn't feel that way trust them more now, after the Edwards affair gave the rag more credibility.

I've seen it posted in multiple places that Richter is Sarah's ex-boyfriend - at the very least.

Isn't it kind of odd that Richter owns property with these people and even owns part of their Wasilla home?

As to Trig's paternity. I am still not convinced that Trig is her child. A birth certificate will prove nothing as she was pals with the doctor and they will never nor have to submit to dna tests unless their medical insurance co doubts it too.

But it is a good question, and the McCain's brought it up, perhaps to discourage actual requests for a paternity test.

27. Because they can
Friend asked me this morning what my thoughts were on the possibility that Pain had had an affair. Friend's take on it was that someone as ambitious as Pain wouldn't run the risk. I then pointed to the examples of Bill Clinton and John Edwards.

As I explained it -- and I'm no psychologist or anything else, just an observant, opinionated old broad -- massive egos and positions of authority create an explosive mix. Sex becomes a power trip, and power is EVERYTHING to these people. They do not think things through the way "normal" people do. They are capable of rationalizing behavior the rest of us find utterly abhorrent. They consider themselves "different" and "better" and the rules don't apply to them.

THE RULES DON'T APPLY TO SARAH PAIN. Remember that. SHE believes the rules don't apply to her. Even the rules she herself insists are the rules everyone else must obey, THEY DON'T APPLY TO HER.

I suspect there are more than a couple indiscretions in this woman's background. She is able to compartmentalize them, and isolate herself from any "guilt" she might otherwise feel. If confronted with the facts, she will either deny them or rationalize them. Do NOT expect her ever to act with any remorse or shame. She simply isn't capable of it.

Tansy Gold, who could very well be wrong, but. . . . . . . .

28. Here's a question I have been trying to get an answer to...
Maybe they have mentioned in the articles what kind of childcare arrangements the Palins have? Just who is taking care of these kids, and who has been caring for them since she became governor? I've heard all kinds of rumors, and people's impressions, but no one seems to have the actual facts.

TIA

I get Rolling Stone and Jann has made it absolutely clear that he wants Barack Obama elected. I didn't realize until after the US Story magazine cover came out that he also runs US Magazine.

But I still thin Wenner is a prick because he also has control over who gets into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and for some reason Rush, Yes, King Crimsom and a few other bands aren't in there.
