***TWO ITEMS WIN THIS ELECTION. Taxes and Social Security.****
We can win on these two items alone.

Everything else is a distraction whether it comes from us or from them.

Calculate your tax cut: http://alchemytoday.com/obamataxcut/

McCain's tax cuts will only benefit those at the top, Obama's benefit those at the bottom, per the graphic below.

Social Security, raising the cap to keep SS solvent is the only solution and, like taxes, help the vast majority of Americans.

It's been called a "massive tax hike", well only for the top 3%-6% of earners. This is a class war, and our side is 10 times greater in number!

If we and the campaign can explain these two items with clarity and simplicity, only an idiot or millionaire will want McCain to win.

2. In terms of getting people to choose one over the other, these 2 items...
...seem like absolute winners.

All the rest is very important, but if we're trying to get the undecideds among the working classes, these two simple items are powerful.

Sadly, lots of other issues are just over their heads.

5. I think job creation/security would very much resonate with the
non-working class right now. Taxes are very much a good thing to talk about, but Soc sec is the third rail. I don't think we should touch that too much.

4. I would add healthcare and outsourcing of jobs.
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 01:19 PM by antigop
Obama wants the tax break for job outsourcing to be eliminated. This needs a LOT more attention.

<edit to add> If I don't have a job, taxes on my non-existent income won't matter.

6. Yes, healthcare is another winner. Basically anything that helps peoplet ake
care of themselves and their families should play well right now.

7. There's room for two more.
Especially outsourcing.

Again, I'm thinking of the most simple message to get leaners to go Obama.

A lot of these folks are skeptical about what they see as "socialized medicine" and those who need it probably already support us.

I'm thinking about what two or three issues would pull those making 0-70,000 per year who need a push.

12. Thanks, you clearly got my point...
Not surprisingly, a lot of the replies seemed to say "no, talk about this..." or "but what about that"...

At the end of the day, the vast majority are working harder for less, and their kids are looking at worsening conditions based on those two simple points, taxes and social security.

Of course health care and energy costs and the war are all tied up in that, but the distinctions between the candidates on these issues is to complex for many to follow.

So, thanks for understanding my point, for "picking up what I was putting down", if ya know what I mean.

I guess I need to be more articulate next time!
