Someone figured out how to see the daily numbers of the Gallup Tracking Poll...
What are they? I thought it'd be interesting to see what McCain's numbers were yesterday.

at fivethirtyeight.com Obama was up one point in Gallup's last night of polling for their tracking poll. This would be the reaction to Palin's speech.

Take tracking polls with a grain of salt, especially one day slivers of the polls!

2. Ouch, that isn't good.
I'd think that would be McCain's best day, much like the day after Hillary's speech was Obama's best.

4. daily numbers
Date Obama McCain
9/4/08 46.1 46.6
9/3/08 51.5 40.5
9/2/08 46.4 44.8
9/1/08 48.9 40.7
8/31/08 51.8 43.5
8/30/08 49.6 41.8
8/29/08 45.3 43.8
8/28/08 49.3 40.4
8/27/08 52.8 38.7
8/26/08 44.4 44.1
8/25/08 47.1 43.2
8/24/08 43.9 44.6
8/23/08 46.4 44.3
8/22/08 45.0 46.1
8/21/08 44.0 44.5
8/20/08 48.5 41.5
8/19/08 42.7 45.9
8/18/08 44.0 44.5
8/17/08 48.0 44.7
8/16/08 43.1 42.9

These are a best fit estimate of daily polling numbers based on the reported 3-day averages. The real numbers could be somewhat different since the reported numbers are rounded. Note that by this estimate McCain polled higher than Obama yesterday. But also not the pretty big daily swings. Hard to know what to make of this without more days of data.
