Some People will vote for Palin to prove they are not a bigoted racist
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 11:17 AM by uppityperson
Yes, I said racist. They can't say "No way will I vote for a n*" (well, some of them anyway), but they CAN say "see, I'm NOT a bigot becaue I voted for a woman", when in reality they are scared shitless (excuse me) that someone with darker skin than they may be in the white house.

I'm meeting with some customers later this afternoon and am predicting they will say this (they refer to themselves as "thinking independents" who incidentally always vote repub who told me they can't support Obama because of Rev.Wright and he doesn't have enough experience. I'll report back tonight)

(Edited to add "some" as I realized I missed that important part)

1. Some of the racists I know are voting for Obama.
Don't ask me how or why I know racists. Life is strange sometimes. But I do, and they are putting it aside because they can clearly see Obama is the best choice.

People have surprised me also. I was just thinking that this would give some the excuse
to proudly proclaim they are not bigots.

3. I have some in my extended family
Inexplicably they are diehard Dems AND tend a bit racist (not vehement, just subtly and would never admit to it). They are voting for Obama.

6. True, I edited and added "some" since I was talking about those
who of course would vote repub (as you put it "bigoted racist men always vote Republican anyway"). I was meaning that there are some people who will use her as an excuse for what they would do anyway. They would already vote repub but will not proclaim that it is NOT because they are "bigoted racist men" but because they are ACTUALLY feminists.

5. Palin ridiculed Obama's excellent community work on the S side of Chicago
you could read between the lines in what she was saying and the rednecks were listening
