I am very glad to hear that. I know of three ads they have run. The most recent one says that
Obama was nominated through a corrupt process at the convention.
They blamed Dean and the DNC.
We often donate to candidates through
Act Blue. It is a PAC that enables people to give to progressive candidates, many of whom do not have party support. When we give to a DFA recommended candidate the site enables both DFA and Act Blue to benefit. I was stunned when I found that a couple of Puma types groups were allowed to have pages there while putting down the main leaders of our party.
And earlier ad placed in FL and MI newspapers in August blamed Howard Dean for corrupting the process in the primary.
Ad accusing Howard Dean of not being fair in the primaries. The Denver Group placed a new ad today in The Lansing Journal and The Tallahassee Democrat.
They point out that as Senator Obama has now asked the Credentials committee to seat those delegates he previously argued against “(2 months after the Rules Committee hearings) The Denver Group thought it fitting to run ads in Tallahassee, Florida and Lansing, Michigan, each state’s capital, reminding voters as well as Howard Dean that the Democratic nomination is far from over.”
Here is the first paragraph of the ad. It actually accuses Dean of not handling the primaries fairly.
"Howard Dean as chairman of the DNC is supposed to be both impartial and objective. The feeling of most of Senator Clinton's 18 million voters is he was not. They believe he was not during the primaries and they believe he hasn't been since."
Yet they at this time were able to have an Act Blue page.
They had also run an ad in July
accusing Dean and Pelosi and Reid of trying to keep Hillary's name off the ballot.
Check out the half-page ad that a pro-Hillary group called the Denver Group -- a reference to the location of the Dem convention -- is running in today's edition of CQ (click to enlarge):
The ad demands that Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid stop opposing the inclusion of Hillary's name on the ballot, and invokes FDR to make its case.
So what is the " Denver Group," anyway? It's been getting some media attention of late, and CQ had a piece detailing the group last week: It was formed by a pro-Hillary Georgetown University professor named Heidi Li Feldman, and its aim is to lobby for an open convention and for the inclusion of Hillary's name on the ballot. She claims to have raised $100,000 for her efforts.
Today I read at the Denver Group that they parted ways. The Denver Group folks are none too happy, but I think enough people griping made the difference.
Act Blue delists the Denver GroupWe have been notified by Act Blue that because we are raising money to run ads that oppose Senator Obama's candidacy for President and no doubt that we are also quite obviously leveling criticism at the DNC for their dishonest handling of the nominating process, and, according to their letter, that we are encouraging the withholding of support for Obama in the election, we are being de-listed by Act Blue and will no longer be accepting contributions through them.
We found this censorship so outrageous, and so obviously part of everything that has infected parts of the Democratic Party this year and made those elements worth opposing, that we decided not even to bother to make our case and argue our point. We are just as happy to accept our contributions through Pay Pal and in check form by mail as we have been doing, and we will continue to do so. But we wanted to explain to our contributors why they will no longer be seeing the Act Blue button on our site and so from now on all contributions to the Denver Group should be made through Pay Pal and by check.
To any of you who would like to express your displeasure to the person at Act Blue who made the decision to de-list us because we will not tow the official Democratic Party line and because we had the audacity to reject the corrupt actions of the Democratic Party this year, you can write to Nate Thames at: nate@actblue.com
Poor Nate at Act Blue....I guess he incurred their wrath.
I am glad to see this happen.
