(I work with teenagers. This one was too rich to pass up, this was after they had presented their current events...both are African-American boys, 15 years old)

Teen 1: Hey let's do the debate, I'll be Obama and you be McCain.

Teen 2: I don't wanna be McCain!

Teen 1: I don't wanna be McCain, either.

Teen 2: No, look, all you have to do is yell that Obama is a MUSLIM and that you're a POW! Ok?

Teen 1: No, I still don't wanna be him. You be Biden and I'll be Obama.

Teen 2: They wouldn't be debating each other.

Teen 1: No, we'll just talk crap about Republicans.

Teen 2: Did you see it last night? Where they were laughing about community organizers?

Teen 1: Yeah.

Teen 2: My aunt was PISSED OFF about that. Know who else was a community organizer? MLK, Jr.

Teen 1: Daaaaaaaayum.

I overlooked the little profanity at the end, since I was eavesdropping and didn't want to interrupt but right after that they got onto a different topic anyway.

I was trying hard not to laugh.

Profanity is not in a word. it is in a context. The word fuck is profane when you say "Fuck you." but not when you say "Fuck yeah!" Or "that's fucking awesome!"

My 13 year old is studying politics in school this year. Tonights homework was to list 3 academic accomplishments that Obama & McCain have had. Obama? Went to Harvard, was head of Law Review, went to Columbia

McCain? He went to naval school because his father did and graduated 894 out of 899, he couldn't come up with a 3rd accomplishment.... course I'm wondering if those graduation numbers are wrong or not, I know they are close!

Both of their families are VERY politically active. They've grown up around this stuff. Around their "cooler" friends, they'd never talk about doing a pretend debate, but they weren't around their cool basketball friends today.
