So... My husband is going to have a cow...
I just went to my personal savings and finished up all I can donate to Obama, I think, in this election.

Can I donate $4600 now, even if I didn't donate a full $2300 before the primary ended?

If so, then I'm still in the clear.

If not, then I'm at my limit. I got so sick of the 9/11 comparisons that just to make a statement, I tapped my personal savings, my rainy day in case I get canned savings, to donate $911 to the Obama campaign.

Damn I hope I don't lose my job soon.

Either way, my husband manages all our accounts in Quicken online. He's going to be asking some questions next week, but it's my own damned money. Screw him. :)

Be sure to donate whatever you can tonight. Depleting your life savings is not necessarily recommended. I have a good husband who can cover for me. Even if he is miffed. :D

2. $2300 each
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 09:04 PM by ronnykmarshall
For you and your husband.

For the GENERAL election.

If you sent money for the primary that will not apply.

17. Mr CatBO's donations...
 You're too funny!

If he votes right, making a big fat October Surprise donation to Obama on Mr CatBO's behalf might be a nice way to offset some of that karma.

3. I've donated more to Obama than I've ever donated.
I'm hoping he breaks $15 million by tomorrow.

12. Me too!
Previous record of donations: $200 in 2004 for Kerry. That's it.

You're not alone. I am donating a record amount, as is my sister-in-law. We are both giving until it bleeds (not just hurts). My dad has donated to my fundraising page, as have several other family members, none of whom ever gave before.

4. $2300 is your max for GE. $4600 total for PR (2300)+ GE(2300)
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 09:05 PM by MichDem10
$2300 per person - so you could $2300 and the hubby could donate $2300.

7. So does that mean...
Say I donated $500 in Primary. I can still only donate $2300 right now, right?

Thanks for the clarification, whatever it may be. :)

20. I think you should carefully look at your own families finances and donate 5%-10% of your profit....
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 09:48 PM by RollWithIt
It's a good investment in your future. Anything above that can be detrimental to your family imo. I have donated 8% of my profit income for the last 6 months to the Obama campaign. I make five figures per year or less than 100k per year. I know that's overly financial but living in America is hard when you earn less than 100k.

EDIT: I don't mean to say a 6 figure income is the way to happiness or anything like that. I just threw the 6 figure income out as an example.
