I Saw Obama For The Third Time In Lancaster, PA Today (large pics)
I volunteered to work at the Obama rally in Lancaster. They asked me to escort small groups to the VIP section they had in front of the stage. I was the first non-media person through security at the press gate.

Suzanne Malveaux (from CNN) ready to be wanded

How she looked on air

It was kind of a strange set up for a rally, there was a little picnic area in the front for the VIP's (where I was on the list!) and the 15,000 people that came to see him were all to the right of the stage or behind the press area.

Some of the volunteers from my region

Mayor Gray warming up the crowd

Right before Obama arrived someone from the campaign selected a few of us "to be the face of the campaign" and moved us behind the stage, so I didn't take any pictures of Obama speaking (they asked us not to) but one of the Lancaster City Council Members is supposed to email some that he took from right next to where I sitting at first that I'll post later.

I did take a few shots of Obama though...

Some random photos;

Senator Casey introduced him here again, and later posed for me

I noticed a little while into Obama's speech that Sen. Casey was sitting near me, right in front of an Amish man

Linda Douglass, former reporter now working as a press liaison for the campaign

An autographed book for one of my friends

Tight security around the event

I spoke to Major Garrett (from Fox) after the event

We parked a couple blocks away and saw a lot of Obama signs, but this "art work" was special

Another great speech, another great event I was glad to be a part of.

1. Just beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.

And that's probably the best picture of Senator Casey I've ever seen!

2. Great pics!
Thanks! I watched the speech earlier on DKos. It made me feel better about the way Obama is continuing to run the campaign.

5. How early do you show up for these rallies? I stood in line for over 3.5 hours monday and could not
get in to see him.

I was there a little after 8:00am, gates opened at 8:30 and event scheduled to start at 11:00. He got on stage at about 11:37 and that is when I gave up.

(disappointed)

14. I was in line for almost 3 hours at this event (Lancaster) today
and I couldn't get in either. I did meet some great people, get two new t-shirts, and walked around back and got to see Barack entering the venue. Was glad to see so many people turn out, though! :woohoo:

20. Yeah, You Have To Get There A Few Hours Before The Gates Open...
He's a huge draw. The Mayor of Lancaster & his wife were both Obama delegates at the convention, and he said they were in line nearly four hours to get in last Thursday for his acceptance speech.

13. He Asked Me My Name...
And started to introduce himself and I told him I knew who he was. I said I thought he was one of the more "fair & balanced" reporters from Fox and he thanked me and told me he really made an effort to be. It was a pleasant conversation...

12. Oh thanks for those!
(I went to school there... it's nice to see it again!)

I saw some on the livestream - at least when that dorky local reporter wasn't talking over the speech and didn't have the camera on himself!

Awesome crowd Did you get to see how long the line was to get in?
THis is definetly right wing country and the crowd was enormous. The majority of them couldn't get in but hung out in the park anyway!
