Soledad O'Brien NAILS GOP talking head with Palin's hypocritical 'friendship' for special-needs kids...
DUers posted that Sarah Palin had cut 62 percent from the Alaska Special Needs Education budget (see
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3915534 )

Now that factoid has made it into the MSM!

Please keep digging up these kinds of fact-checking nuggets--they MAY make it into the MSM

In the 1pm (Eastern) hour on Thursday, Soledad O'Brien interviewed Leslie Sanchez, head of a political consulting firm and former Bush WH adviser on education issues, about the hypocrisy of Palin's "friend in the WH" comments to special needs parents, in light of her 62 percent cut for Alaska special needs education funds.

Remember, in her Wednesday evening acceptance speech, Sarah Palin said,

"Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge. And children with special needs inspire a special love.

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.

I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House."

5. I'm getting the sense, seriously, that MSM reporters EXPECT & ASSUME bloggers and posters will do
the research FOR them (MSM), as if it is REALLY the Internet peeps' JOB!!

6. Given that most newspapers and television networks have
slashed their reporting staffs, if bloggers and posters didn't do the research, it wouldn't get done!

8. Who needs researchers and fact-checkers when the tax-exempt Heritage Foundation's "Press Room"
e-mails the story coveniently pre-written and "reliably" sourced from their own experts and writers every morning?

Props to O'Brien for at least an attempt to be hard-hitting, though...

9. I agree.Google News searches include some "transitional" blog sites that link to DU
and other unedited blogs. In writing the OP, I had misplaced the DU URL in the OP, as well as another similar thread started by eleny.

When I first ran the Google News search http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&tab=wn&ned=us&nolr=1&q=palin+budget+%22special+needs%22 , I retrieved the DU URL I was looking for from my sole "hit", at youngturks.com .

Now, an hour later, youngturks is no longer a "hit", but
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adrienne-williams/palin-gutted-special-ed-f_b_123774.html is.

Later tonight, that same Google News search ought to bring up CNN and other MSM stories that stem from similar Google News searches. But the whole fact-check nugget well may have started with eleny's DU thread, which linked to Alaska government budget URLs.

11. Doesn't Soledad have a special needs child?
And you don't see her dragging the child in front of the camera to promote herself.
