The problem(s) with Biden's slamming the media this morning for sexism against Palin
1) It's not true. Show me who in the MSM has demonstrated sexism toward Palin? Hasn't happened to any appreciable degree.

2) It's reinforcing the protective wall the pukesters are trying to erect around Failin'.

3) It comes off as weak.

1. New poll said people believe it to be true
So it doesn't matter whether it is or not.

2. he's taking it off the table
actually its the big set up.

by taking sexism off the table, the media can't claim the obama camp is doing it.

he's bring it back to the issues.

he made a fool out of brian kilmeade when he tried to play those cards and got it back to "what are they going to do in the next four years to get us out of the past 8 they created?"

its insulating obama and biden, not the other way around. he's letting palin define herself as the pitbull so no one can accuse them of being sexist.

biden's a knife fighter and his political jiu jitsu is strong.

7. that makes sense totally. Biden is way too smart to let something that good
slip away.

Don't you know the Team busted ass while Palin was in seclusion to throw in a distraction factor setup?

After watching our convention I am at least 50% convinced that Sen Obama and Sen Clinton and their teams (once she put her campaign on hold and they had their meeting at Diane's) decided to just let the media dig themselves into a big ole hole over Hillary's 'disaffected' supporters because they knew what they were gonna do come convention...Hillary, Big Dawg, and all the others ..

it was The Sting, folks.

Our campaign is smart. Very smart. I am not saying it is going to be as easy as we would like, we can't let up at all but you KNOW they had a game plan for every potential VP scenario and how they might play it .

5. Here's an excellent explanation

Steinem points out the small part that may be sexist and suggests that it stop, but correctly describes the bigger picture of why Palin is all wrong.

10. Repubs will say...Steinem AGREES coverage is sexist!!
The pregnancy issues were a trap. Now, discussing troppergate etc. will be more difficult.

13. They'll say anything no matter what. The point is that when there is a mixed bag,
when nuance or complexity is involved, it takes a good progressive to deal with it. There IS a little sexism in the treatment of Palin as many DUers have pointed out. However, it is about 5% of the publicity. Instead of trying to make the argument that it's 0%-100%, which is not true, it's a good idea to face reality as Steinem did.

If Dems. trap themselves by worrying about what self-serving lies Republicans will make up, they are falling into the trap. They should continue speaking the truth, hammering home their messages and stances on the issues, because the majority of Americans agree with them. We must stop letting the Frank Luntz's and the Karl Rove's dictate what we do and say.

6. Palin can be horrible, yet still face sexist coverage
If McCain had picked some male short term republican governor it wouldn't be assumed off the top that he was incompetent to be commander in chief, even if it were true.

The question is not whether she is a complete joke in actuality. She IS a complete joke. The question is whether an equally comical male pick would have become an instant punchline.

I am not saying she is being treated unjustly, merely unequally. She DOES deserve what she is getting. A comparable male wouldn't be getting what he deserved.

Are Tim Pawlenty or Bobby Jindal so obviously qualified? They're RW religious nut governors.

And I wouldn't have expected to see 1000 photo-shopped pictures of Bobby Jindal in a bikini here.

8. Re: point #2- Repubs will use this to keep her away from questions.

I heard it already on MSMBC this morning. A Repub lady talking head was saying to a guy from Time...Why should she talk to you?? Why should she talk to you? The is the 'biased media' meme.

They will keep her away from questions as long as possible, probably pointing to the VP debate as the right time for questions.

This is all so shrewd and has Rove's fingerprints all over it.

9. Sounded to me like he was doing a "pre-emptive strike" getting ahead
of the message Repugs will spin that Dems were sexist towards Hillary by not allowing her to be VP and that Dems will go after Palin because she's a woman just like Hillary.

Thought it was pretty good.

11. So terrorists would hold back on President Palin because it might be sexist?
Are we to believe that the possible leader of the Free World gets special treatment from terrorists because she's a chick?
