Anyone know how much of Alaska's fishing industry is controlled by Rev Moon?
Edited on Thu Sep-04-08 10:25 AM by blm
We know more than half the nation's fishing industry is controlled by Rev Moon, but, does anyone know how much of ALASKA'S fishing industry belongs to Moon?

Seems to me that Left Behind believing Moonie Palin is carrying water for fascists and theofascists up there in Alaska and that is why the RWers and theofascists FORCED McCain to put her on the ticket instead of who he wanted to choose - Lieberman or Ridge.

4. I didn't think of it till last night when I heard Mr. Palin referred to as a commercial fisherman
in Alaska - and I am pretty sure that Moon controls most of Alaska's fishing industry, one ay or another.

8. Some info on Moon's control of Alaska fishing ...
http://www.cultnews.com/?p=1917

The Moon-controlled enterprise called “True World Group” has apparently largely fulfilled the would-be “messiah’s” 1980s prophecy. The business ”builds fleets of boats, runs dozens of distribution centers and, each day, supplies most of the nation’s estimated 9,000 sushi restaurants” reports the Chicago Tribune.

True World Foods reported revenue for 2005 was $250 million. Its fleet of 230 refrigerated trucks delivers raw fish to 7,000 sushi and fine-dining restaurants across America and Moon’s Alaska plant processes more than 20 million pounds of salmon, cod and pollock annually.

Rev. Moon’s fish businesses operate under a nonprofit umbrella called ”Unification Church International Inc.” (UCI)

11. Here's one story
Kodiak, Alaska, Fish-Processing Plant Hauls In Big Fine
Anchorage Daily News/June 6, 2001

A Kodiak fish-processing company pleaded guilty Friday to a federal felony charge of illegally underreporting the amount of pollock purchased from a fishing boat.

International Seafoods of Alaska Inc., whose plant is one of the biggest in the commercial fishing hub of Kodiak, was fined $150,000 and put on probation for five years under a plea agreement with prosecutors.

-snip-

The International plant is part of the global business holdings of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Unification Church. Joachim Becker, corporate secretary with the International's Kodiak plant, was in the courtroom Friday and entered the plea on behalf of the company's board of directors.

In another AP article compiled at the same site:

The Unification Church is the largest taxpayer and the biggest private employer in Kodiak, one of the nation's busiest fishing ports. Its assets include fishing boats and a fish-processing plant.

http://www.rickross.com/reference/unif/unif84.html

And again:

The Moons live in Irvington, N.Y., but the church has an extensive presence in Kodiak and is the island's largest employer. The church owns a fleet of fishing boats and a processing plant, International Seafood of Alaska.

I haven't found any other references to Moon's Alaska presence.

12. Considering Moon's alliance with Bush family, it's likely he has quite a bit of say with Ms. Palin.

13. Largest taxpayer/employer in Kodiak doesn't hurt either
I went looking for John Gorenfeld's blog but he has moved somewhere else to cover the campaign, some hub site linked with firedoglake, and his page wouldn't open. Reminds me to go to the library and check out Bad Moon Rising.

19. Thanks - Todd Palin's acceptance of his wife's infidelity may be rooted in his Moonie connections.

Moonies seem to believe that marriage is just a societal duty, not an issue of LOVE and fidelity.
