There is a huge upside to the Palin speech
If McCain starts tossing similar red meat tonight. They are going to be tagged as the nasty, old, mean-spirited white people's party.

If he attempts to play to the middle, we get to play the Jeckyl/Hyde Card and cast Palin as an inexperienc hack and sort of a cross between Dan Quayle and Katherine Harris.

This also allows us to portray her as something in terms that might otherwise be construed as "sexist"

1. Their base eats that shit up
with a spoon so they miss a drop.

They equate being an asshole with being a maverick.

2. She is the declaration of culture war. Tonite is tartar night.
"You are messing with primal forces of nature," as Ned Beatty said to Peter Finch, in Network. Seat belts on please.
