My mother
has voted a straight Republican ticket since 1947 because "my father told me to always vote Republican"....

...still occasionally says "colored" when referring to African-Americans...

...just announced she will be voting for Obama.

Ladies and Gentleman, Hell has frozen over.

2. I think they just jumped the shark last night
the vileness reached a level that can no longer be ignored by the American public. On one hand you have a candidate calling out to people to join together to get serious about our countries problems and work together to fix them and on the other a call to everything that is ugly in our natures for no other purpose than to bring people down.

The contrast is stark and in the end I like Obama have faith the American people are a good people and that they will reject the posturing and divisiveness

4. Yes, it was Palin that put her over the edge
She says Palin reminds her of a Barbie doll....

....and my sister was never allowed to have a Barbie Doll because "she looks like a streetwalker"

8. In her defense...
...I really don't think she's a bigot in her heart (she once invited a homeless African American woman to live in our house for a spell, against the rest of the family's better judgment), it's just that it never occurred to her that colored might be the teensiest bit offensive.

6. Which state does she live in?
I hope it is a swing state and that most people feel the same way she does.
