...my dad. And Senator John Kerry.

I respect John McCain for his service. But how does he earn desks for students, and Senator Kerry *earned* purple band-aids?

He is a retired professor and has hearing aids thanx to shell fire in Korea ...

He might say those desks were paid for by the locals based on the idea
that a public education is right in this country. And education helps everybody.

...to country preserves those rights (as spelled out by the Constitution). That includes a free, public education. I believe that.

But the credit goes to ALL who serve...not just one. John McCain's service deserves our respect. So does my dad's (and yours). So does John Kerry's.

The problem I am having is the 'dis ingenuousness' of the Republicans at their conventions. In 2004, they disrespected Kerry's service by handing out purple band-aids.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. . .

Freedom and liberty have been defended by veterans, but never "given" to us by them, as some sort of "gift." It's our birthright, as human beings, according to the Declaration. And not a "gift" anyone has the power to bestow.

Stupid story, Huckabee.
