And more and more people are refusing to talk, or are retracting their statements. Government people, especially suits, can be quite intimidating.

7. that's EXACTLY it! I was going to start a thread on this: they didn't go there to VET her,

they went there to SHUT PEOPLE UP! This was from John Nichols today, he of The Nation, and the Madison newspaper.

he said they went up there to wheedle, cajole (used ambassadorships, govt jobs, etc., as enticements) people to shut up. I can't remember if he mentioned threats, too, but that occurred to me

it makes no sense for pugs to 'vet' her after the horse left the barn, does it?
