Is Palin just another Rovian head fake ?
I've come to the conclusion that, the McCain brain trust ( Rove & co.) knew all along this woman would serve several purposes.
First, she would solidify the fundy base & get them all lathered up. 2) she would easily be nominated but the scandals would cause her to withdraw which would give Mr POW a chance to name whomever he wants without a fight.
3) the anger from the fundies will/would energize the fundy hate toward the media & the left.

Conclusion: base on board, media cowed into silence, the rest of us fucked.

I'll add my own tinfoil hat. lol

A Faustian bargain with religious freaks? Yes.

A colossally stupid choice made out of panic? Check.

A blunder which will go down in presidential history? Natch.

Rovian genius? Nah.

He's an over-rated political hack who ran out of luck in 2006. If he did hatch this whole thing, it further proves my point that he's a hack.

3. No, they didn't. This is a hasty mess that an irrational, impulsive McCain brought on himself.
Rove is an evil bastard, but no, he didn't plan this. This is a disaster for the Republicans.

If they were worried about the fundies he could have easily just named John Thune as his running mate. That would of made the fundies open their wallets.

They thought they were being smart. They had no idea how much baggage this lady had.

5. Right up until the Bristol-is-pregnant story broke, I thought so
Now, not so much - it's gone WAY further than could suggest a headfake.
