McSame/Palin can only get 9% of Clinton supporters...
That's all they can get.

ST PAUL, Minnesota (AFP) - Women voters remain unswayed by the Republican choice of anti-abortion, devout Christian Sarah Palin for vice president, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

White House hopeful John McCain electrified his party's conservative base by naming Palin, a 44-year-old mother of five and Alaska governor, as his running mate on Friday.

But 52 percent of voters polled in a survey for the women's activist group Emily's List said they would vote for the Democrat ticket of Barack Obama and his VP choice Joseph Biden, against 41 for the Republicans.

snip:
Only nine percent of Clinton supporters said they thought they would vote Republican because Palin was on the ticket.

2. I think that's being generous.
Yahoo is notoriously biased toward the right.

8. 9% of any group is totally insane
You can always find 9% of any group to hold the craziest views imaginable. Or even be the ones who lie to pollsters for fun.

7. I imagine that some of them are "Operation Chaos" voters.
Voters that would have supported McCain regardless of his running mate. Those folks can be disregarded.

And the article also says that those 9% would vote Republican, not that they necessarily will. We still have time to win them over, but as Palin and McCain continue to reach out to the fundie, anti-women's rights crowd over the next two months, I bet a lot of those Clinton supporters will come back into the fold in time for the November election.

But the bottom line here is that McCain grossly miscalculated Palin's ability to win over Clinton supporters! His candidacy is the gift that keeps on giving.

10. Ya gotta remember a lot of Clinton "supporters" were Appalachian types who have

been voting GOP for years in KY, PA, OH, TN, AR, MO, NC, etc.

Because they are still registered as Dems they can vote even in closed primaries and they did... to vote against Obama and for Clinton as the "default" candidate.
These are not voters we would get in any recent (post 1976) Presedential election.

Very, very few would be considered newly alienated female voters bitter over Clinton's loss.
This should be obvious.

Normally 10-12% of nominal Dems vote GOP... mostly in the South and Appalachia.
