1. The WSJ might want to check the 50 state polls, since this is essentially a 50 state race.

If you look at this not as a National race, but as a 50 state race, with 50 seperate elections and 50 seperate strategies, then you begin to understand the Obama plan. In the end, he is winning places that we haven't won in a while and that certainly weren't won in 2004 (no offense to Kerry- I absolutely adore Kerry and truly believe he would have made a magnificent President.)

Edited to add:

I wanted to add this link. This is an excellent list of each state and the percentage chance each has of winning. When you look at the map, it puts Obama at 303 EV.

2. Um, let's see. He's well ahead in the polls. He was even before the DNC.
He's a new face running against a long term fixture in national politics. He's black. His name is Obama. Did I mention he's well ahead in the polls?

By this arguemnt, he'd have to win 100% of the vote to "close the deal". Truth is, no one "closes the deal" until Nov. 5th.

3. 85 thousand live and more than 38 million watching from home
I think that was the stamp on the sale.
