Book recommendation: "A Citizen's Guide to Howard Dean"
Edited on Tue Jan-06-04 07:14 AM by Paragon
Nine new essays (not reprints) by journalists from Vermont's Rutland Herald and Barre-Montpelier Times Argus covering Dean's formative years, time as a doctor and legislator, his record on the environment, health care, and budgets - up to his revolutionary use of the internet and the current campaign.

Great stuff - and probably more unfiltered and in-depth than anything you may read before the primaries end. Smaller press, so it may be a little harder to find, but for a $12.95 paperback which had to be put together quickly, it's fantastic. Whether he is currently your candidate or not, it's an informative book from an excellent perspective. Go get it now.

2. Hey, I am reading this right now.
It is really interesting. I agree you get a very different perspective from these reporters than the big media who have an agenda. I am up to where Dean took over as Governor of Vermont. I particularly liked reading how the people who know Dean are laughing at the media portraying Dean as this angry, liberal. They keep giving all of these consistent examples of him being pragmatic and consistent. And how he was always listening to the people around him. Even his political enemies, so far, have a grudging respect for him.

3. I just got this
book for Christmas, from a friend who lives in Vermont. I haven't had time to read it yet, but it's in the stack!

My friend is a lifelong Vermonter, retired teacher - and Dean supporter.
