Bristol Palin in Ohio: A truly damning photograph.
Here's Bristol's privacy: Dolled out in Ohio State gear to attract the Buckeye vote, courtesy of Team McCain, and, no doubt, vetted and approved by Sarah and Todd Palin.

Will she become a running joke, like McCain's ever changing story about which football team he named to his Viet Cong interrogators?

Changes according to what state he's in.

Not that he's using his POW status for political purposes, of course

29. Sociopathic behavior manifests itself in totally selfish power manipulation
Basically that's what they do; they're amoral. Sociopaths perceive others as just things to be used, from lower level marginally acceptable office games or bullying their children to butchering millions. They're often outwardly very charming which is part of the manipulation.

So, no argument that she has power lust. She's just doing what comes naturally to her.

That the picture is a cheap campaign stunt?

I know it by looking at the picture.

Or are you one of those people who has problems with Mark Twain because he didn't use "sarcasm tags"?

Yeah... every high school dropout in Alaska loves Ohio State. If you can't discern the intent behind that sentence, please report to a recalibration center near you.

14. The true scandal here is that the sweatshirt is not from Ohio State.
Turns out that Bristol is a member of the "Obama Satanist Union", a cult of misguided Wasila teenagers rebelling against their strict Pentecostal upbringing.

The cult really has nothing to do with Obama or Satan, they just picked two names that piss off their fundie parents.

Perhaps a spot on the hockey team can be opened for baby daddy, and the GOP can stick the two kids in married student housig, and let them get lost in the crowd.

53. Since I posted, I read that he has not graduated.
Since then, I've posted that baby daddy and Bristol need to return to Alaska immediately and go back to school. Bristol may have to finish up next year or do the home school thing to finish, but finish she should.

It is one of the saddest parts of this fiasco. And fiasco is the right word.

It is possible that the Palins do not focus on education. It was written on one of the Alaska blogs that the older boy, Track, didn't go to play hockey in college because he couldn't get that GPA up to the needed 2.0. Really, in a small, rather rural school with the right classes, that isn't too much to ask, especially when the kid could play at the college level.

I grew up in a small town in Michigan. Despite Todd's good job and the Mom's college degree and governorship, my grandmother would have called this bunch "The Trash."

I hope that things turn out better for the other kids, including Trig.

That's a publicity shot, a deliberate political publicity photo, designed to boost Palin's appeal in Ohio. Ohio State Football is a religion that crosses all party/ethnic/class lines.

To repeat - it was the McCain campaign who were not 'leaving the girl alone'.

I wish her parents would allow her to slip quietly out of the limelight. Good grief, I'd happily respect her privacy - after all she's not running for public office - if her parents would stop putting her on display. You know: the way the McSames keep their adopted daughter under wraps....

43. of course not
They're what? ages 4 to 7? The DNC probably felt like Disney World to them.

Palin's daughter is 17 years old, the daughter of the RNC's VP candidate, and has her pregnancy attacked by the media. I don't think she's seeking it out (the media attention that is). If the media attacks her, there will be backlash against the Democratic party (remember Chelsea during the Clinton campaign?)

back on topic: Would you agree that the OP is a stretch at best? With all the "ammo" the Palin pick provided I think this one is dead in the water.

47. The majority of teenagers
Are pathologically self-conscious. I remember being that age, and a small zit would make me want to crawl into a hole and pull dirt over myself. I remember how mortified I was when my mother made me go to school with my hair a fetching shade of dayglo orange after a parentally unauthorized experiment with henna went awry. So I can't imagine that Bristol feels really comfortable being put on display. You know that people are going to be staring at her belly and exchanging whispered comments about how far along she looks. I expect she wants to crawl in that hole too, but hers is probably a lot deeper than mine.

Little kids are more spontaneous, but I expect even Obama's daughters would rapidly weary if they had to be on constant display. As it is, I find the Senator incredibly lucky that neither of the pair has picked her nose or told a poop joke in front of a camera.

This is the crassest, most pandering bull I have ever seen. This is beyond disgusting. Ok, no more defending this mess, not that you needed my permission, but fire at will! Let them know we've had it with this crap.
