Look long and hard at THIS picture.

President Palin following on the heels of a disgraced or deceased McCain. Hmmmm..... Then again, if history repeats itself we'd find ourselves with an appointed VP who becomes president. Now THAT is truly worthy of a few shudders.

We're preaching to the choir here, but I think this is an important point when engaged in discussions with mainstream Republicans. And yes, Virginia, there are mainstream Republicans. They are our co-workers, our neighbors and even family.

I read an interesting bit at the BBC about how the vice-presidential candidate has traditionally not had much impact on the way voters cast their ballots. It's time that changed, don't you think?

Head-to-head and toe-to-toe there is just no denying the fact that Obama is head and shoulders above McCain in terms of judgment, character, policy, etc. But I can grudgingly recognize that lifelong Republicans who aren't paying enough attention place these two men on even ground or prefer McCain.

Head-to-head and toe-to-toe the differences between Sarah Palin and Joe Biden are measured in light-years not inches and yards. Lifelong mainstream average Joe Republicans aren't bothering to deny that....at least not with a straight face.

This election cycle we need to focus on the full ticket. We are not running Obama against McCain we are running Obama/Biden against McCain/Palin. We've paid lip service to that in the past, but as much as I know many are probably sick and tired of all the Palin crap, this appalling example of McCain's utter lack of judgment is a boon to the Democrats. And when you've been handed a gift it really is in poor taste not to accept it with gratitude. ;)
