Why does Chris Matthews keep saying they HAD to chose a VP
at the last minute?

He had six fucking months!

This is the second or third time he has said it.

1. Because they were waiting for Obama. Once he decided they made the final choice.

Palin wouldn't have been the pick if O had gone with Hillary. I'm dead certain.

3. He is making it sound like something they had to overcome. Making
it sound like an excuse for lack of vetting.

5. They didn't have alternate scenarios?
What horseshit. This is the President for chrissake, not, well not the mayor's race of Wasilla. He should have known who he was going to choose, and had them vetted, no matter who Obama picked for VP. What is with all these rationalizations.

9. Of course they did. Thats why they waited and strung along Romney and Pawlenty.

But hey were basing their final choice on O's.

6. yes, but the media was leaked
the names of Kaine, Bayh, and Biden as the top three candidates for VP some time ago...it's not as if Biden should have been a huge surprise for them.

7. Because he wanted Lieberman all along...
And it wasn't until all the people were starting to gather that he realized he wouldn't be able to be that much of a Maverick.

11. They did NOT have to announce on Friday.
They could have buckled down throughout the weekend and with just a superficial amount of vetting, could have uncovered some of her problems.

Then they could have gone back to Romney, Pawlenty, Hutchinson, etc before the convention. I mean really they could have held out till the next Wed. or Thurs.

But NO. Totally on impulse and in the desire to control the news cycle, they pulled the trigger just to "beat" Obama.

Now they are paying for it.
