Can people please help on the Jeremiah Wright situation?
I came to DU at the end of all that. I didn't read any of the information fully detailing this sitaution and I saw a lot of negative posting. The information I gathered was that Jeremiah Wrighth was mainly angry over the treatment of Blacks in the US but not really promoting racism since he had many White parishoners.
Are there any posts in defense of Wright or at least something I can gather up that tells the other side the MSM did not bring forth, if there is one?
Sorry I was so behind. There was more tabloid fodder everywhere than any sane and rational thinking arguments for or against Wright.
He was not racist and the quotes played over and over were taken out of context. I recommend you watch the entire sermons. He wasn't angry as much as pointing out some racial hypocrisy. But he was flamboyant and did like push buttons.
2. Was Obama as active in the church as they spout?
I understand 20 years friends with someone but that doesn't mean you're proactive in what theysay and do.
Actually I saw a lot of the tapes (youtube) and this is what I thought. I thought there was something more besides for it to be comparable to the AIP which were basically traitorous.
Thanks for the clarification and confirmation on my thoughts.
4. There is zero comparison between his church and secessionist
I really have not heard any data on how active he was. But Wright was a friend of his family (described as like an uncle that sometimes says stuff you don't agree). The church was in no way considered un-American or American hating; It was hoping for a better America and showing how racism was not christian. It did point out the faults in America though, but not in a hating way, but in a we have to fix this way.
after he repeated some of the shit at the press conference. While I can understand his (and his generation+ of black people) anger and paranoia it doesn't make it right. He did real harm to Obama.
