Confusing Polls, now Bush beats Dean by 14?
The day before Gallup had Bush only beating Dean by 5.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Presidential%20Contenders_January%202004.htm

In the first Rasmussen Reports' general election survey of 2004, the President leads Howard Dean by a 51% to 37% margin. The Republican holds an even larger lead against other potential Democratic challengers.

However, when paired against a generic Democrat, Bush leads by a much narrower 5-point margin, 47% to 42%.

When paired against any of the Democratic contenders, the President is favored by 50% or 51% of those surveyed. Other than Howard Dean, all of the Democratic contenders attract between 29% of the vote (Edwards) and 34% of the vote (Lieberman).

4. that rasputin poll is not reliable, it was HORRIBLE in 2000
i remember this poll from 2000 and it is NOT reliable. i can't remember exactly what but their methods used for getting the data makes it less reliable. i would advise all on here to ignore this poll.

5. A couple days ago, I scanned a post by someone claiming they had
evidence that the WashPost was push-polling for Dean. They'd ask a series of quesitons only about Dean, and then ask who the person preferred.

I'd love to see the entire list of questions asked in any poll which has Dean matching up well against Bush.

I really think the media is worried that voters are catching on to the fact that Dean might not match-up well against Bush and would like to get some polls out that show him closer than he is.

Of course, I'm also open to the possibility that the gap is honestly closing just because the media ONLY talks about Dean. However, I am so convinced that Bush would be able to demolish Dean if Dean gets the nomination. So even if Dean did get close, I'm pretty sure the gap would open wide if he got nominated.

...who said Dean v. Bush was too close to call. I believe it was 51 to 46 (Bush/Dean) with a 3.5 margin of error.
